Mavs and Nets just dont compare. As for what time period you're talking about, the idea is current so i dont see how Kidd being a better player 2 years ago has anything to do with it.
The situations in both teams were totally different then they are now. For one, Bynum was looked at as someone who will be the dominant all-star big man to play along side of Kobe. While he is still very young and improving, his development hasn't exactly gone like the Lakers hoped for. If you look at his production its gone down across the board in everything aside from a measly 2 point per game scoring increase. Bynum 2 years ago had more value then Bynum today. In addition the Lakers have already added another dominant big man to play that role and gave him a 3 year $57 mil extension. Fisher is 35 years old! Lakers are set to be championship contenders for the next 3 seasons and i guarantee you, Fisher will not be the starting PG leading them. Thats not the situation they were in 2 years ago.
With all that, I still said i still made it clear that Devin, Yi and a pick might not be enough to get Bynum, but it is certainly a more realistic deal that the initial Kidd/Bynum proposal (even that was not a bad deal).
im not comparing the nets and mavs. this is my point:
2007 Kidd for Bynum and whatever else would have been included in the deal is much more appealing than
2010 Harris, Yi, 27th pick for Bynum
and I think majority of Nets fans will agree with that. if you were the lakers wouldnt you rather have a dominating pair of pf/c opposed to one with an ok pg?
Pretty sure the "filler" in those Bynum/Kidd trades was Lamar Odom, which is why you absolutely can't compare the Bynum 2007 trade talks to now.
Also, if Harris is an "ok PG" than there are only about 6-7 good PGs in the league.
