Jones turns down fight at 114 against Lil Nog

I knows a little short notice, but this disappoints me. I thought Jones was hungry and ready for a new challenge. I know Lil Nog is not to be taken lightly, but would have been nice to see Jones step up and take a legit challenge.

Good for him.

It would have been a cool fight, to be sure, but to take it on short notice and throw off his whole development path would not have been smart.

It's not like he's out there calling out the champ and then ducking contenders *cough*LASHLEY*cough*.

Would have been a very interesting fight. Not sure how that one would end.

Taking a fight against a better fighter on short notice? Pretty easy choice for him IMO

No reason for a 22 year old to put himself at a disadvantage against an already supremely skilled fighter. Jones will be fighting at the top of the 205 division soon enough.

I'm not sure if he's ready for a leap like that yet. I think that good be a good fight a yr or two from now. Bones needs more fights under his belt, at least 2-3 .

I wouldn't mind seeing Jones against another young gun like Luiz Cane or Ryan Bader b4 he began fighting top 10 light heavyweights.

It's not like he's out there calling out the champ and then ducking contenders *cough*LASHLEY*cough*.

I don't think Lashley is ducking anyone but he seriously needs to step up the competition. No more Bob Sapp or Wes Sims type fighters.

Yeah Jones vs Bader/Forrest would be a step up..Cane wouldn't be bad other. I think as far as Lashley goes I don't think its him dodging fighters its Strikeforce not giving him legit competition.

This. Jones had no reason to take a fight like that on short notice. Smart move.

When Forrest comes back, I'd like to see him fight Thiago Silva .

He's been refusing to take a fight with Shane Del Rosario of all people while keeping Overeem and Fedor's names in his mouth.

I've seen a news report say that Jones didn't take the fight due to not being back to the gym since the Vera fight.

But Jones twitter has said "i've never turned down a fight, and never will" (then later says, I redact that because I would never fight Chuck Norris, because that would be stupid).

Probably a case of Joe Silva and the UFC asking if Jones was any where near being able to be fight ready and Jones turning around and saying he wasn't. Could well be a case of the fight not officially being offered to him.

Also its a big burden to take a fight on like a weeks notice....I think taking a fight in a months notice isn't a good idea either.
