We'll be hoisting another trophy while USC scampers to stake some sort of false claim to it... AGAIN.

LSU>USC

:D I got no problem with either of LSU's titles. Though, in the year they split, I do consider USC to be co-champs.

A bit late, but regardless:

Congrats to LSU (as much as I have hated on them this season).

I can't believe we're on our 2nd 'El Turco Suicide Watch' this season.

Final thoughts:

LSU won because their offensive coaches kept the OSU defense off-balance and uncomfortable. They forced the dfense to adjust to them, not vice-versa. It's not often that the Sweater Vest gets outcoached, but he sure did in this one.

Fox should never be allowed to do college football ever again. I'd list all the issues I had with the broadcast (not just the horrid announcers!), but I have to go make dinner soon.

Beanie Wells was unstoppable, and this game validated my opinion that Ali Highsmith is in no shape or form an NFL LB. He's a very good athlete playing football, not a football player. I thought the Buckeyes did a good job on Dorsey and they basically dominated Jackson. The LSU CBs were outstanding--Chevis Jackson showed great hip fluidity and the right amount of physicality.

The blocked FG was the turning point in my mind. Also the dropped TD pass by Robiskie. LSU did a great job seizing on those miscues--the hallmark of a good, well-coached team. The Buckeyes were still in it unitl the Boeckman INT with about 5 minutes left, and once again LSU capitalized on the miscue.

Well...

at least Michigan won.

:dontknow:

Some reason, for the past two years I've fallen asleep during the National Championship game and waken up to see the other team hoisting the trophy and everything.

'grats to tigers, they were a better team but OSU hanged themselves. Blocked FG, Dropped TD and penalties killed us, otherwise result would be much different.

Hey, it was a split. According to humans, USC was the best, according to computers, well...Oklahoma was the best, but LSU does deserve the crystal egg for beating the team everyone knew was worse than USC. ;)

I'm sorry I just can't resist man. I hate USC fans just like you do, and would smack anyone who says that LSU's first title was a fraud, but I don't buy for a minute that USC didn't deserve their half of that title.

LSU is a weak champion that has been practically given the opportunity to play. if they had 3 losses, they wouldve gotten voted back in to the title game anyways.

the SEC has ownership papers on ohio state. that seems to be the case.

BUT THE SEC knows who owns them and dominates that conference each and every time we face them.

USC!!

hehe, I can live with it, we got the crystal footballs, so I'm happy enough :)

I'd much rather beat them in the championship, or hell, even lose to them, instead of beating OSU.

Could have stopped a lot of talk from both sides.

ok, now its gettin somewhere.

props to LSU this year. theyve got all the trophies blah blah blah.

but can MJ, yourself, or anyone else actually say that the top two teams. THE BEST 2 TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY. played each other?

heck, anything was better than watching an overrated ohio state team get wacked again by the SEC. 2 YEARS IN A ROW BLOWOUT!

i'll give props to LSU, all the jostlin aside. but guarantee, stack any team up against my team and we will compete. strongly. much moreso than the ratings killer that is OSU.

the crystal ball belongs to LSU, and we had our shot and had an off night with those geeks from stanford.

but in no way can folks say the 2 best teams met in the championship game.

Good post.

It should have been LSU vs USC, I knew that before the bowls.

Now though, I'm all for bashing the BCS, but the truth is that USC doesn't really have a right to complain imho. When you get 2 losses, the only reason why you win a national title is because you were lucky as sin. And to the question: Am I saying LSU would have no right to complain had they been left out? Yup. Nobody USC fan, LSU fan, Georgia fan, West Virginia fan etc, gets to complain about their team specifically getting screwed. They should instead join together in solidarity to burn the BCS in effigy.

I agree completely, I didn't think we deserved to get in, and had we been left out, I'd have had no complaints.

The best two teams didn't meet in the championship.... that's starting to be a growing trend because of the BCS.

LSU and USC are not the two best teams. LSU and UGA are the two best teams. Obviously that can't be the NC game, but if we're picking the two best teams, those are it.

P.S. - I know it will never happen, but can anyone imagine lakeshow and USC's savior Pete Carroll accepting the Atlanta Falcons job, the team he obviously hates more than anything on this planet? Not that I want another college coach.

if PETE accepted that job, the falcons would probably make the superbowl in 2 years.

LSU and USC are not the two best teams. LSU and UGA are the two best teams.

georgia couldn't even make its own conference title game. they may have been hot at the end of the year but they have no claim to being a top 2 team over the course of the entire season (unless they want to argue that tennessee is #1).

The best two teams didn't meet in the championship.... that's starting to be a growing trend because of the BCS.

because the best 2 teams met for the championship before the bcs? lsu fans should be thrilled with the bcs. if it wasn't for the bcs they wouldn't have won any national titles in recent years. ohio state would've played usc in the rose bowl this year with the winner probably taking #1. sugar would've been lsu vs some weak (or perceived as weak) at large team.

if kansas had a football tradition, they would've been in the title game.

imo they should have a rule requiring a team to win its conference to make the title game (maybe unless the other team in the title game is from that same conference).

Georgia had a better and more impressive year than USC so I don't see your point. I already broke that down.
