LeBron James's 2009-2010 Season Over

Post#1 » by JKiddy » Fri May 14, 2010 3:08 am

I am one of the longer tenured posters in REALGM. It's been almost a decade on here. This week has been the best week of my life as a Nets fans. Proki is the man in charge. Lebron just lost. He has no choice but to leave Cleveland. They have no money and he is surrounded by crap. He put up a huge game but it was still not enough. Now he can leave and have no shame. Cleveland fans cannot get mad at him now. It's a win/win situation.

I am praying we do well in the lotto on Tuesday. But, tonight was a great night.

Jay-Z and Proki do the right thing July 1st. Make it happen. LOCK IT UP.

Win Lottery...Win Wall....Win Lebron

Post#3 » by NJ To BK » Fri May 14, 2010 3:27 am

With Winning the lottery you get a guy like John wall, Who I personally dont like, but at the same time Lebron is friends with wall and has actually attended games of his in Kentucky. With obtaining Wall, and having the supporting cast, I dont see how we cant get him. We have the best talent out of New York, Chicago, Miami, and ill even throw in the clippers. Step 1 is winning the lottery, Step 2 is letting Jay Z do some have work do convince him to throw on the old jersey. This could get interesting guys its going to be a circus of a summer!

Chicago and Miami have quite a bit of talent as well. I think they have as good of a shot as the Nets do. I still say its a pretty small shot since i think he stays with the Cavs.

Out of ALL the "So Called" Lebron destinations...I want him to land in Brooklyn the most. Screw Miami, NY or what ever. BROOKLYN!!

Unless Lebron adjusts his game a bit, he won't ever win a title. The ball is in his hands 80% of the time which makes the offense predictable. His court vision is extremely overrated and so are his ball handling skills. I have yet to see a player who improves while playing next to Lebron. Shaq was an all star last year and this year he was forgetable. Jamison as a 20-10 player that should have been perfect as a 2nd option. Mo Williams is the same player he was in milwaukee. Dude desperately needs to play next to a pass first pg to help get the others going..

I know what I said has nothing to do with the thread but I had no where else to say it..

If we were in Brooknam already I would say we would be in the lead, but two years in Newark, ugh, I don't know man, I think we're a distant 3rd or even 4th if he does leave Cleveland.

If he doesn't end up here I hope like hell he doesn't get put into situation where he's a legitimate threat to form a dynasty in the east.

I dont understand why the main stream perception about Newark is sooo bad? They got a great Arena, tons of stuff to do around the Arena, its a freaking 20 min train ride from Penn Station. The Devils are loving it there. How the f... is this purgatory? This is as good as it could possibly get before they move on to BK.

No..Chicago has talent. Miami has scrubs. Chicago and NJ are his best case. WIth both teams he gets a center, a legit pg in Rose and hopefully Wall. They will just need some shooters and they'll be fine.

Miami has (will have) Wade who is worth atleast as much as what the Nets and Bulls have. And they have more money then the other teams.

Yeah to who mentioned they don't get why everyone is badmouthing Newark. I get so fired up when people say that.

Do they realize that the Nets next season will have the YOUNGEST stadium in the entire league. It's arguably one of the best looking stadiums as well. The sight lines inside the stadium as perfect for everyone from down low to up in the rafters. I absolutely hate people badmouthing that stadium like "they're playing in newark...might as well play in some ymca gym in Camden."

The one major knock with the Newark thing they use is that it's NOT New York, which is understandable, but I think they are being highly illogical on ESPN with some of their other reasoning. At least we now have a "plan." If this was Summer 2009 and Lebron was becoming a free agent, they'd have a stronger case, but fact of the matter is:

We have a solid base of young developing players
We have more 1st round picks than anyone over the next 3 years
We have cap space
We have an awesome stadium to play in for the next 2 years
The stadium in Brooklyn will be the best NBA home in the country arguably

I've been hearing all day this morning on the radio about Lebron to Chicago. "They can sign Lebron and then do a S&T for Bosh or whoever."

NEWSFLASH...WE CAN DO THAT TOO. We can provide anyone solid young players/picks/expirings enough swing a deal for a legit big man to put next to Lebron. It honestly depends on whether that other team wants to go into a full rebuild or if they want to try to still compete. If they want to compete, well then I admit they can get a better deal from Chicago, but on the full rebuild side of it by getting your players and picks and cap space to go after Melo in 2011, we can make a very strong case.

I think I'm being realistic in my logic though. I know Chicago has more "win now" talent, but people are being really illogical in my opinion when it comes to our franchise right now.

Prelude,

Once again I couldn't have said it any better myself. I agree with everything you just said and have been feeling EXACTLY THE SAME.

People say those things about Newark because the city is a **** hole, I mean let's be real here.
I live right next to Newark and as Jersey boy I love the city through and through, but in all reality, it's like a minature version of Cleveland.

Then again, it's not like whoever comes here actually has to live in Newark, they can live almost anywhere in the state of NJ and we actually have some extremely nice upscale areas and are 10 to 30 minutes outside NYC depending on where you choose to reside, so maybe my worries are very overstated.

NJ has world class dining, great golf, great schools, a ton of stuff to do, great clubs and beautiful women of every race and creed, a very multi-cultural and diverse populus and like Prelude said, the Rock is an outstanding and brand spanking new arena.
Add to this we are on the cusp of the move to Brooklyn and even when in NJ we are basically the exact same major media market as New York and the Prudential center will be sold out and rocking for the two years there.
Then the coup de grace is we have a very talented young core and a ton of assets and Lebron's pick of head coach after he signs here, or Dwayne Wade, etc. for that matter, so it makes a ton of sense from a basketball standpoint, that has always been known.

Maybe we are a really nice destination after all?

Keep in mind the biggest things against us are the 2 years in Newark (As a Jersey boy, I'm not saying it's a bad arena. Hell, I'll be going to a lot of games this season with just a PATH train ride, but if LeBron is coming here for Brooklyn, he has to wait at least 2 years) and our less than stellar (mildly put) season last year. Stating the obvious, our chances hold steady if we land the #1 or #2 this Tuesday.

Yeah let's see how we do Tuesday.

I expect us Prokorov to stir some stuff up the next month and a half though leading up to free agency. I'm honestly expect a draft night trade like the Celtics did for Ray Allen a few years ago. I think the quicker we make a big move to show we mean business, the better chance we have to lang a Lebron or Wade. Even if it doesn't happen, I expect us to be rather aggressive the next few weeks. Based on everything I've read about our new owner, that seems to be his style and I'm 100% ok with that.

The Rock is great, Newark the city is fine, but Newark the city is a **** hole, like Vince said. That being said, I don't think its as bad as many on both ESPN and in the general forum are making it out to be. I don't believe it would make or break if Lebron comes (he's not coming.)

^^^^ Yes. I would do that. No matter how much potential John Wall has according to scouts and regardless of Chris Paul's injury, I'd still do that. He is the kind of guy we need at the point. He wants to WIN EVERY GAME EVERY NIGHT. That inspires everyone else as well.

I will mention though he's also mad close with Lebron.

Lets say we nab Chris Paul then trade Devin/fillers to another team for an above average PG. Who is more enticing now? Chicago or New Jersey. I'd probably have to wait and see who that PF is.

Maybe a 3 team deal with Indy and Minny.

We send Harris/CDR to Indy and expirings/2nd round pick to Minny

Indy sends #10 to Minny and Brandon Rush to Jersey

Minny sends Kevin Love to Jersey and maybe another ok young guy to Indy

Is that fair? Minny gets some cap space for summer 2011, #10, & 1st pick of Round 2 for Kevin Love/filler. Indy gets Devin Harris, CDR and an OK player for #10 and Brandon Rush. Jersey sends Harris/Expirings/2nd Rounder for Kevin Love and Brandon Rush.

I'm just throwing darts at the wall here though. I think that is a good starting point for a deal though. I'll admit it needs tweeking.

I think the main question is if Kevin Love is what we're talking about when we talk about an above average PF?

I'm looking for guys who play every game like it's their last though. Chris Paul and Kevin Love do that. I cringe cause I don't like him next to Brook...but David Lee plays like that too. I think a starting unit of Paul/Twill/David Lee/Lopez is more enticing than Rose/Hinrich/Deng/Gibson/Noah
