Re: The Raymond Felton Contract/Free Agent Thread
I like Parker, but as I already mentioned on BCP, he's almost 30 now and still hasn't figured out how to shoot. He'll be done in 1 or 2 years.
But since he's an expiring, I'm fine with trading jax and ray for him. Add Roger Mason and call it a deal.

If we blow things up, be prepared for a at least one terrible season and hopefully we can add a draft pick and Carmello Anthony to the roster in summer of '11.
When it's all said and done, I won't be surprised if we basically have the same roster as least season. That could put us into position to get 3rd-8th place in the East.

Re: The Raymond Felton Contract/Free Agent Thread
i do think parker's decline from elite pg will happy rather fast, once it starts. his game is built so much on speed that once he loses that edge he will be a liability due to his defense and outside shooting.
but for now...
but for now...

and parker will turn 28 in a week, thats a little different than "almost 30" in basketball years.

Re: The Raymond Felton Contract/Free Agent Thread
And his shooting is a lot better than he used to be, plus he's a workaholic, each and every year since the start of his NBA career, baring this year's injuries, he has gotten better. I don't think he will decline soon, even though it will probably be a sharp decrease once he does, with his game being so much based on speed. He definitely has more elite years left than Jackson.
But anyway, the Spurs don't seem to want to part ways with him : http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/66489/20100510/spurs_wont_shop_parker/

We could be terrible next season, just not the season after (without losing our draft pick to the Bulls.) Anyway, I think there are moves that could be made (this Parker one), where we don't have a terrible drop off in talent while securing financial flexibility.

But I think we NEED to be terrible to get great. Unless you're finding a way for a superstar FA to sign here.

You can bet your bottom dollar that CP3 will sign here if we have a hole in PG and have considerable cap space in '12

Re: The Raymond Felton Contract/Free Agent Thread
also, how sweet would it be if we got CP3 as a FA from the Hornets while they get nothing then go on to win the championship while the Hornets are in lotto land?

Re: The Raymond Felton Contract/Free Agent Thread
What are your thoughts on this trade idea?
IF Bosh leaves the Raps (which is a huge possibility), then the Raptors will have 40 M salary locked till 2013 with no chance making the playoffs (Turkoglu 10-11 M, Calderon 9-10 M, Bargs 9-10 M, Jack 5 M, DeRozan 2-3 M).
So I assume they try to trade off salary. (Hido, Calderon, Bargs are untradeable at the momment ... means only a moron will trade for them ... and I do not think they want to trade DeRozan)
CHA out Nazr
CHA in Jack, Belinelli
TOR out Jack, Belinelli
TOR in Nazr
TOR gets an expiring contract and a big man (a need for them)
CHA gets a PG to replace Felton and a 3 pt shooter (a need for us)
There could be included some 2nd round pick or cash to balance the trade

I would do that deal in a nano second - which means the Raps probably wouldn't!!
Heck, I would trade Gana for Banks if they were keen.

Re: The Raymond Felton Contract/Free Agent Thread
i do think that bargs is definitely tradeable though.
young 7fter, who is efficient, blocks some shots and can stretch the defense. if paired with the right group of players i think he could have really good value. he needs to be hidden on team with some good defensive guards and next to a shot blocking, rebounding big man, which the rapts have neither.

Re: The Raymond Felton Contract/Free Agent Thread
Bargnani is the worst rebounding and defending big man I've seen in years, plus he's grossly overpaid

Re: The Raymond Felton Contract/Free Agent Thread
I think Bargs could certainly be useful on the right team. He's not going to be the #1 option, but a guy like that on the Bobcats would certainly fix our zone issues and help the flow of our offense.
Downside is can he guard any better than Primoz?

Re: The Raymond Felton Contract/Free Agent Thread
I would rather just draft Veselý instead. Although I think he wouldn't fit in well as he is primarily a SF right now. But we would have to trade up or be really bad next season.

Re: The Raymond Felton Contract/Free Agent Thread
So the Pacers just lost Price to a busted knee cap and they don't seem to have a lot of love for TJ Ford (their only healthy contracted PG on the roster right now).
Wonder if that will make them players for Felton and willing to table him an offer?
