if you were lebron....

what would you do this summer?

1) where would you sign and why?
2) who would you ask the gm to also sign/trade?
3) name your final lineup for next year?

If I were LeBron, I would wait. You control the market... no team will sign a different superstar if they think they can get you. At worst, Wade will sign a max deal from a team that thinks they're out of the running or get impatient. You watch where minor agents sign, who can sign a second great free agent (who you can help choose), maybe even a coach. And finally, yes, you give bonus points to New York.

I would love to see him go to the Clippers, Cinderella's ugly sister of the NBA. That would create an awesome rivalry.
A starting 5 of Kaman, Griffin, Lebron, Gordon and Davis would be pretty good. If they could keep Blake and Outlaw to join Jordon on the bench, they would have a good mix of youth and experience. They would be able to mix and match to play big, or go small and athletic.

But I think if I was Lebron I would go to Chicago and start at Sg next to Rose. They have some good young players, Noah has turned into a good centre. Deng' can be solid and an excellent 3rd option. Gibson will continue play solid minutes at Pf and I think Hinrich can be a solid 6th man. All except Hinrich are relatively young and I could see another dynasty blossom.

Chicago has to be the front runner among non-Cleveland teams. They increase their chances significantly if they can engineer a sign & trade for Bosh or some star big to pair with James and Rose. Would Toronto deal Bosh for Hinrich and Deng? I think they'd require Noah, which probably doesn't work.

I think the Knicks still have a chance to pull this off, but they don't have the pieces to get to a championship soon. If I were Lebron, I'd be very wary of hanging with the Cav's. Their mix is OK, but signing over-the-hill players didn't help.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

1) where would you sign and why?
Cleveland - but I am stupidly loyal and would feel like I had something I still had to do. I would also have all sorts of opt outs included in my contract so that at any time we won the rings, I could cut out if I wanted and go get paid some where else.

2) who would you ask the gm to also sign/trade?
Chris Paul or Steve Nash and Joe Johnson
and a coach with half a clue and who would allow the 1st unit to play uptempo

3) name your final lineup for next year?
CP3/Nash - JJ - LBJ - Jamison - AV
Mo - Parker - Moon - Hickson - Z/Shaq

I think I'd resign with Cleveland, not for loyalty reasons, but because it would take too long to build a new team around him starting from scratch.

I'd ask for a change of coach, which should have been done a long time ago, and I'd ask to get rid of Shaq and start playing uptempo.

I think that could be sufficient in getting the Cavs to win a title, and of course adding another star, or good enough role player, would help a lot as well. But seriously, I think the Cavs would be in a much much better position if they hadn't been so blind and had fired Brown a couple of seasons ago.

So next season LeBron will be 25/26, he needs to start winning now. Like Kobe, he will have played a ton of basketball by the time he reaches 30 and I think it would be reasonable to say that his legs will also start giving in around that time.

So with that in mind, Cleveland and NY would actually be towards the bottom of my list. Cleveland has shown numerous times that they're incapable of building a championship team and I just can't see NY having enough talent to be contenders within the next couple of seasons.

I know this is easier said than done, but if I were him, I'd take a major paycut and sign somewhere like Orlando. The guy already has well over nine figures in the bank and a ton of money coming in elsewhere, so I think he would be able to get by. His number one goal should be building his legacy and I think he would be nearly guaranteed to win a ring every year for quite a while in Orlando.

If taking a paycut isn't an option, I'd probably go with either with the Clippers or the Bulls. The city/team history shouldn't really matter as long as they have the talent. The Bulls would need to sign-and-trade for some outside shooting. The Clippers, maybe some bench players that can play defense.

I think it could easily be done - money wise at least.

They re-sign LBJ and max him out.

They sign JJ with the money they have thanks to Shaq coming off the books.

Hornets want to get away from the LT so they trade CP3 for some sort of combination consisting of Mo, Delonte, Moon and Parker plus picks (Mo is half the price of CP3 and could play next to Collison, West, Moon and Parker all expire after next season).

im not cap expert... cause im too lazy... but the cavs were WAY over the cap last year. even with shaqs 20 mil coming off the books, i dont think they would have enough to sign a FA like JJ. if lebron opts out and becomes a FA, wouldnt he still count as a caphold?

anybody else hear that bizarre rumour about Delonte West and Lebron's mum?

http://wcwpsports.blogspot.com/2010/05/west-sleeping-with-lebrons-mom-reason.html

With all the side stories the NBA is starting to remind me of the WWE.
From gun fights, to Oden's d*@k this season has had it all!

edit: has the swear filter been turned off???

simmons article from a few days ago, where he makes his argument for chicago and also compares lebron to dr j, rather than the previous comparisons of half mj, half magic.

1) where would you sign and why?
I'd only be considering Miami and LA and that's weather related. I'd be getting the max wherever, I'm going to have a lot of say in teammates and coaching staff, no reason to go to a place that wasn't awesome to live in. Miami and LA aren't known for their sports fans, but LeBron changes all of that, at least during the season.

2) who would you ask the gm to also sign/trade?
Bosh. I think he's the perfect compliment to LeBron. If it's LA, then you send Toronto a package that can include whoever and I'd be trying hard to get rid of Baron. If this is in Miami, I'd let Wade walk and then sign Bosh outright (pretty sure they have that type of space). If Bosh is unavailable, I'd be asking for Dirk or Amar'e, then Boozer.

3) name your final lineup for next year?
Too hypothetical. Guards that can defend a bit and spread the floor and a big body to defend and rebound.
