L. James can play for any team in the NBA through a s&t. There's no way he would come to this wonderful basketball city. I mean it, no way, no matter what.

Agreed. Atlanta has good strip clubs...but it doesn't compare to NYC or Chicago as a basketball city.

Do you really need these fantasy trade scenarios to make it through the day?

If Lebron wanted to come to Atlanta, they would gladly trade any combination to make it happen. Like the rest of the reasonable responders to the thread. No way it happens. If Lebron is going to tarnish his legacy by skipping out on Cleveland he'll go where he wants to a larger fan base with a better chance of winning. No need to waste our time pining for something that won't happen.

Wow, Harry, you have out done yourself. This is quite possibly the most ridiculous and improbable trade scenario I have ever seen.

Why would he come to a sorry team in Knicks that's years away from contending for the title? I guess LeBron is more worried about being paid then actually winning a ring lol.

Nobody will be laughing as much as I will when your team gives Chris Bosh or Joe Johnson a max contract this offseason after failing to get Lebron. Arrogant New Yorkers think they can/will get anything they want..

Let's imagine for a second that Lebron said I want to come to Atlanta and make it the center of my new kingdom. He would like you to resign Joe as his sidekick and keep Al Horford as well. Let's assume Josh and Marvin would have to go North with picks in the sign and trade for the King (if I'm Cleveland I refuse, but this is just an exercise). And the Hawks would also reach out to Brendan Haywood with the full MLE to play C. Might as well have Evans resign and Childress come back to fill out the lineup

Is that Hawks supporting cast substantially better than the supporting cast left behind in Cleveland?
G Crawford, Johnson, Bibby, Teague
F Horford, Evans, Childress
C Haywood, Pachulia, Morris
vs.
G Williams, West, Gibson, Parker
F Varajeo, Jamison, Hickson, Moon
C O'Neal, Ilgauskas

I'm not seeing how the Atlanta cast is drastically better than what Cleveland had put together. It would definitely sell a lot of tickets, but it's not the title slam dunk that it would need to be to get Lebron to sign on (and that assuming we fill a couple spots after the fact). I just wanted to do that out loud (in a forum) to make sure that I am being reasonable in my evaluations. I've not figured out what chance Miami, Chicago, New Jersey, New York, or Clippers give him but if your can't improve on the Cleveland baseline I would think you wouldn't be in the running under any circumstances.

I tell ya, if giving up Marvin an Josh could net LeBron, I would do it in a heartbeat. It's also ideal in that we keep JJ as a #2 option and move Al to the 4 which he's better suited for anyways. That core has great potential by itself. If you add defense to that at PG and C, you have a very good chance to win a lot of games and at least go to a ton of championships. That possibility has to sound at least feasible to the LeBron team. There will surely be much fewer places he could go that would put that much talent around him immediately.

Also, I keep hearing how LeBron is going to look for a max contract where ever he ends up. I would not be surprised if while looking at his options not being as great as he'd like, LeBron might just go for another short-term deal. Why sign with someone and be committed to them long-term when you can play for anyone for pretty much as long as you want for the max? Just another wrinkle that I wouldn't put past him. Look for him to attempt to set another trend like he did after his rookie deal was up.

If it were possible...The ASG would trade the entire roster for Lebron because they'd sell out all 41 home games.

I wasn't trying to guess who would be given up. Just showing that even with a simple salary match that our remaining talent isn't as good as what he's got now. If you can't do that much, what's the point of continuing to pine. We should move on to realistic opportunities to improve our team.

i like how you guys are starting to come around.

but that team is alot better than the Cavs. sign Shaq or Brad Miller to the MLE and you have a team that can get 70 wins. the supporting cast gives everything a play making super star needs, three pt shooting in Joe, Bibby, and Crawford, and all start interior defense with Horford.

If LeBron wanted a title, he'd play for the Nyets.

PG: LeBron/CDR
SG: Devin Harris/Courtney Lee
SF: Wesley Johnson/Terrence Williams
PF: Bosh/Yi
C: Lopez/MLE C

Return to Atlanta Hawks
