1) JJ S&T for Haywood + Terry w/ Dallas
2) resign Childress (MLE) packaged w/ Bibby + Joe Smith and 11 1st for Parker
3) trade Smoothe + 2nd for MIN 1st (targetting Wesley Johnson , TX + fillers to be cut)
4) draft a big at 24: Alabi, Seraphin, someone who will learn the ropes behind Haywood and Zaza.
5) let Mo, Randolph, Mario and big Collins walk and sign vets (like Ratliff, Flip, Haslem or Stackhouse who know the city and will add depth to the bench)
6) get a good coach who will let TP and Horford carry that team while developping Marv, Teague, Jonhson and 24!
PS: if #2 does not work out straight up, get good value for Chil that SA wants to add to the package.
TP- Teague- JC
JC- JT- (Stack or Flip)
Marv- W. jonhson
Horford- #24
Haywood-Zaza- Ratliff
Thoughts?

Re: Hawks go shop in TX
Doubt Spurs would do that. Doubt Sota would do that. Would Dallas really give us Haywood and Terry? I would love Haywood but both seems like a little much. Like the idea, but I think its fair to say, we have no clue where this franchise is going this summer. Hopefully the moves that are made, are made for the future, and not to plug holes for the short term. I would prefer to avoid mediocrity for the next decade.
PS: TP and JC would make for one horrendous defensive backcourt, huh?

Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

1) Haywood wants to be well-paid. He'd have to sign for around $11 million to make the SNT work. That's IF you sign Joe to a $20 million contract. If you sign Joe for less, Haywood would have to agree to the same amount less.
2) Parker is asking for the max. You'd have to grossly overpay Childress to make the deal work. SA wouldn't like that.
3) MINN is already overloaded with PFs. They're looking to trade one of them away. Plus, they're lusting after Evan Turner with that pick.
4) That'd be nice.

My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Re: Hawks go shop in TX
Some math explanations and my own opinions on the plan.
1. Joe's starting salary at the max is 16.2. With Terry making 9.87, that would leave a range on Haywood of 3.63M to 9.57M starting. He'll would definitely be in that range, but unlikely to be at either extreme, so math wise that works. I'm not sure Terry would be their first choice to ship out in the deal nor would he be best to come here, but it's an interesting deal to get a big while Joe gets paid and goes to a winner. My main concern is that Dallas may not want to deal Haywood for a wing given that Dampier's contract is not guaranteed this year and he could be traded or even cut for a big savings. Haywood is the their most likely full time big next year. My secondary concern is that Joe would have to want to go to Dallas (he's in control). I'll be honest I don't know what Joe wants other than to be paid.
2. San Antonio denies that Parker is available and one of the reasons I believe they do that is the realization that they may not find a deal to their liking. Parker is under contract for 13.65M next year giving a range of 11.375 to 16.38M in matching trade values. Bibby's 5.56M would mean the Childress would be in a range of 5.815 and 10.82. The bottom end seems more likely as slightly above MLE. Joe Smith isn't under contract and has no place in the deal. If San Antonio wants him they could offer him the veteran minimum. Childress and Bibby is not enough value for Parker. Spurs would turn that down because they aren't at the point of worrying about losing him for nothing yet. If you do acquire Parker the max demand becomes important in resigning him.
3. If Minnesota believe they can play Smith at SF and they are unlucky in the lottery (lowest pick could be is #5) they might consider it, but if they have a top 4 book they seem very likely to land Turner or Johnson themselves which I would guess projects much better into their plan and talent mix. Also how are you going to trade up into the top 5 and play them behind Marvin. If you trade Josh for a high pick that pick better be ready to start day 1.
4. Yes, if they are the best available. There are some other ways of going with the pick depending on what's available at that time (PG, SF). Remember this step happens prior to step 1 or 2 because those require free agency. You'll be making that move with only step 3 occurring so you just given up your starting PF and best player (albeit moody) for a top 5 pick to fill in Wing.
5. Depends on whose available and whether they want to come here, but fine.
6. Sure.
Conclusion: Ambitious, unlikely to be pulled off (although not completely outrageous), but not a bad attempt at remaking the team.

Joe (SnT 17M) and Bibby (5M) for Caron (10M) and Haywood (SnT 12M)
Horford, Smith, Marvin, Caron, Crawford, Haywood, Teague, Evans (Roger Mason) -> that should be an okay 8 man rotation.

In this case, Caron at 10M and Haywood at 8M works, and I prefer him at 8 than 12

And I don't know if any team is willing to give him 8M/season

^ i have no problem in offering Haywood 3 years. you always have to over pay bigs.
