Good summary but Id say

Win this year = Top 5 all time

2 more titles = Only behind Jordan

3 more titles = GOAT

4 or more = eternal GOAT

For Kobe to have a case for the GOAT, he has to win about 8 rings total with at least 4 Finals MVPs. Even then I'm not so sure I'd have Kobe over MJ, simply due to MJ being the much better player than Kobe.

That's the thing. There's players that Kobe just can't pass no matter how many championship teams he's part of, and that's because they were just plain better players. I know that bothers his fans, but that's the truth.

So why is Havlicek not ahead of Magic then since has 8 titles and a finals mvp?

I think Magic has better stats and more accolades?

Havlicek: 20.8/6.3/4.8/1.2/.3 - 1 Finals MVP, 13x All-Star, 4x 1st Team All-NBA, 8 titles
Johnson: 19.5/7.2/11.2/1.9/.4 - 3x MVP, 3x Finals MVP, 12x All-Star, 9x 1st Team All-NBA, 5 titles

Even if Kobe did win 8 rings, Jordan would still have had a better career. Kobe would definitely be ahead of Wilt, Magic and Bird, though.

That wouldn't make him the better player, so that's doubtful.

Yeah, actually it would make him the better player.

You seem to grade players based on peak play, and that is not all that goes into evaluating a player's career.

Kobe's peak is near the top anyway. He had historically great scoring seasons, and was an elite defender. Not many can claim this.

If player A plays for 10 years at a 9/10 rating (yah I made a rating scale up call your lawyer)

Player B plays for 15 years at a 8/10 rating. I'm sorry Player A is/was the better player and longevity isn't going to change anything.

And you seem to think that being on a winning team somehow makes you a better player. It doesn't.

I think Wilt would still be ahead of Kobe, but Kobe would definitely pass Magic/Bird IMO. With 8 rings, I'd have Kobe tied for the third spot with KAJ after MJ/Wilt.

lol at people acting like Kobe didnt have a prime. 9 all-NBA first teams and counting.

If Kobe gets anywhere close to 8 rings, hes GOAT, easy, period.

His prime isn't very good in comparison to people in top 10. That's what we're saying.

Even tho this is just hypothetical it depends on how he is playing. Winning matters but the how is also improtant.

Sure it is. How many players were an elite scorer & defender & closer in their prime?

I think Kobe's prime is great no matter how you look at it.

30-6-6 with great D on championship winning teams, there is no weakness there.
