As long as he doesn't walk for nothing I'm fine with whatever they do. The organization can't afford to let a talent like Boozer go for free, it would be a massive set back for the team (3 years at least IMO). You either S&T him or you keep building around him and Williams.

If the Jazz keep him they are forced to trade AK.

I read somewhere that if Boozer walks with nothing in return (and the other free agents aren't signed yet), the Jazz are about 9 mill under the projected luxury tax? They could get someone with the mid-level exception and also use the Harpring trade exception to add people--but nobody at Boozer's previous $12 million.

Millsap slides into a starting role and then you need to fill out SG, reserve PF, and figure out what to do at C--I'd find a veteran (free agent Haywood?) here as Memo may not be ready at the start of the season, Koufos is not ready yet, and Fesenko is up in the air.

But the Jazz are almost certain to be in luxury tax again since Matthews will be getting a hefty raise.

I expect we will start the season off in the luxury tax, but we probably won't end that way. I'm guessing AK will get traded before the trade deadline to get us below the luxury tax.

One sign-and-trade idea

Jazz get: 7th pick
Pistons get: Carlos Boozer
Kings get: Tayshaun Prince

Any chance of happening?

Uh, no chance.

We're not spending the 7th pick and Prince's expiring contract on Boozer.

Hey Jazz fans, I'm surprised none of you are even considering the prospect of trading Milsap if you keep Boozer?

If you need to drop salary, he might be the more realistic option (especially if you have to take on nasty longer term deals for AK47). Plus, you'd get other assets along with cap savings in return as well presumably.

It seems like most of you guys are thinking Boozer is out the door, in which case this is moot. However, if you were to invest that kind of long term money in Boozer, I can see you being enticed to max out on a Milsap trade for cap savings and talent at other positions...

Millsap has one of the best contracts in the entire league and Boozer has 150 games left in him.

My feeling is that Boozer will stay.
The Player that needs to be traded/cut/released/bought out....whatever is Memo, I really like him, but feel this team is a big, long, athletic, defensive center away from contending for a title.

If I were Koc, I would be looking at AK and Memo as the keys to the future.
