Grant Hill played amazing defense in the playoffs so far.

Of course it doesn't mean he can contain Kobe, it has to be a team job.

Kobe will own Hill, Dudley or whoever Gentry hope can slow him.........which is nobody on the Suns.

Hill's only advantage is that he's a seasoned vet, he'll be able to try some things in front of the refs. Hill's disadvantage is he can't irritate Kobe. Look at Hill's recent comments about guarding Kobe, he's already conceded that it's not much you can do to stop him.

In order to get to Kobe it has to be a mental thing, you have to say you can stop him to bring out "gunner" Kobe. This is the Kobe that can stall the Laker game plan. By Hill playing nice already this will allow Kobe to stay within the frame work of the game plan. We'll see "facilitator" Kobe instead.

Hill or Dudley don't have a Ruben Patterson, Danhtay Jones, Bruce Bowen personality, those dudes got under Kobe's skin.........which brought out the "gunner" in him. Hill is too nice and Dudley is too damn passive and carries no rep in the league. Thing is if they even thought of pissing Kobe off, he'll dissect them royally.

It's kind of ridiculous that people are thinking that Artest can get it going on offense versus the Suns. Unless he can start hitting the wide open 3 with consistency the Suns don't have to worry about him that much, it really doesn't make any sense for Artest to try to pound it inside when you already have good post players in Bynum and Gasol.

The only reason Hill gets to guard Kobe is because in the past when Richardson had to guard Kobe he couldn't put up anything good on the other end of the floor. Kobe used to torment Richardson during the season, by just attacking him draining all his energy that he would need on the other end

+1

Hill and Dudley aren't going to be able to stop Kobe, the only thing they are going to do is try to make him take difficult shots so he gets tired. Kobe will probably get his 25+ but as long as he doesn't get wide open looks and doesn't draw fouls then Grant and Dudley have done their job. My concern is Pau more than Kobe. Gasol needs to be kept off of the offensive boards and held to around/under 15 points for the Suns to win.

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Hill too slow to keep up with Kobe, JRich to small and weak to guard Artest in the post, not a single big (except an injured Robin Lopez) to handle ANY of the Lakers bigs, this is gonna be a tough series for the Suns. Their 3s better be falling, and Nash better be extremely aggressive breaking Fisher down.

It's not that he's slow, just too slow to guard Kobe. The guys that guard him well are super quick and super long, even great, tough, talented defenders like Battier, Artest and Bell would get lit up by Kobe because they just don't really have the quickness/length to bother him, and Hill is like a poor man's version of these guys. You need someone like Thabo or a young Tayshaun to actually give Kobe trouble.

Good post. And not only his energy but he gets overly frustrated guarding Kobe and wears it on his sleeve and it affects him on the other end.

No one in this league can stop Kobe but Hill will be fine. He's been underrated defensively all year.

NO, you just need good team defense. Pierce and Allen limited Kobe enough in the 08 finals and neither of them was some super athletic all-defense team guy.

I don't understand why you guys are acting like Kobe is so hard to guard these days. Just don't let him post up or get close to the cup, and let him shoot lots of jumpers. In fact, the more jumpers Kobe shoots, the less touches Pau and Drew get. This makes it easier to win...
