I think Love would be a better PF off the bench than Al. He's better at role player stuff and he's cheaper. Whether you keep Al or Love, I think you want to have two other good defensive players in the frontcourt.
If you have Jefferson as the #2 guy, you at least need a good defensive center behind and hopefully with another threat on the perimeter it would take the pressure off him and he'd be more efficient. I wouldn't compare his role to Howard or KG. You obviously couldn't just have him switch situations with those guys.
Love's greatest asset is his rebounding. The problem with him is that he a liability on the defensive end and can't score around the basket. I would much rather have a third big that is a scorer that can take advantage of the opposition's second unit.
Al's best asset is that he can score on triple teams. The problem is he he spend so much energy going one on three that he needs to rest on defense and he stops ball movement in the offensive scheme. There thing aren't as much of a problem on the second unit where you can turn the keyes to the offense over to Al and get r dun. It would also conserve his energy to score 20 pts in 20 minute on second unit.
Of course this means you need to have two other bigs that can play very good defense and provide some scoring. Think Patrick Ewing, Dennis Rodman as Starters and Al Jefferson off the bench.
