Ideas to get another top 10 pick.

Post#1 » by collin_k41 » Sun May 16, 2010 5:02 pm

There has been quite a little talk on trying to use our variety of late picks and other assets to possibly grab another top 10 pick so I was wondering what we might have to give up to get a pick maybe 5-10. Obviously there is a lot of difference in values between the 5 and 10 picks but the reason I made the range so wide is that there might be a specific guy we want to target. Include the trade, and the guy you would choose with that draft pick. Fire at will!

Well, the 2 that have been discussed a lot and make sense:

Jefferson for Prince + Pistons 1st. [probably try to package the Pistons 1st with other assets and trade up for Favors]

Flynn for Pacers 1st.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Love for 4 or 5?

Pekovic +16 should get you somewhere in there, too

If we can somehow get the 1st pick, trade Love and/or Rubio + pick for Evan Turner

Id be extremely happy if we could get Turner and Favors with giving up Flynn and/or Love

What kind of value can we get just from the 16 and 23 picks? My opinion is that should be worth about a #10 pick but I'm not for sure.

no, rarely can you package two later picks for a move up. It happens in football, but rarely in basketball.

Flynn, Pekovic and those picks would be the options. Possibly love or Jefferson as well. We have the assets if we target someone.

I think we may see ourselves using assests to get Turner(if we don't get #2), or someone like Favors, possibly Aldrich is Darko won't be back. Then try to target another wing the 16(James Anderson, Henry, George would be my guesses)

#16 and some cap space may get you the Knicks pick from Utah, depending on what happens to Boozer.

Gomes + Hollins for Kirilenko + 9? That uses pretty much all of our cap space though. Maybe we would have enough for Milicic only. We could also roll over one or both of our later picks until next year.

Or use them in trade packages.

New Jersey would be your best bet if they fall to number 4.

This still makes me laugh:

shrink wrote:SAC wins the lottery, NJN comes in third.

#2 MIN
#3 NJN (RUBIO + ADDITONAL CAP SPACE for Harris ... if NJN fell to #3)
#4 GSW (LOVE .. Did you know that GSW's rebounding margin per game was close to -10!)
#10 IND (FLYNN completes their young 2011 rebuild)
#7 DET (JEFFERSON .. Prince + #7)
#9 NYK (Prince (+GOMES) + #23 (UTA pick return) + $4 mil in raw cap space for Kirilenko + #9)
#6 PHI (Kirilenko (exp) + #16 + $9 mil cap space for Brand + Iguodala + Speights + #6)
#8 LAC (Speights + SESSIONS for #8 + cap space)
#5 WAS (Harris + Iguodala for Arenas + #5)

Throw in Pekovic where I'm short.

MIN: Arenas + Brand + Picks 2-10.

Even though this was a joke, there's probably something useful in there you can use.
