With the deepest respect to fanhouse but they are ripping me off

I brought up Doc Rivers 2 weeks ago

For the additional recording of facts :

1. I have , for the best part of a year , touted the Nets as one of the most serious rivals if Lebron leaves Chicago. As an adjunct to this idea..having Yi Jianlian on a team with Lebron James and more serious talent ( than Yi ) is massive additional penetration into the lucrative Asian markets.

2. I now believe we will whiff on Lebron because we've peaked too early. This will lose steam in the coming weeks and we'll have run our race in a quick wham and bam could have been.

Its over
"GarPax played Grab Ass with Mirotic for 5 years and been in Omaha playing Hide the Salami with Doug McBuckets for the 1.5 years and they've developed feelings for him. Well, I say "F feelings and F loyalty!" I want CHIPS! Jerry Krizause

Sounds like the Bulls need some Viagra or Levitra.

Doc, not going to happen.

Everyone knows the Nets have cap space and want Lebron - kudos for you figuring this out. And did we mention the Nets are the worst team in the NBA?

Bulls haven't peaked too early. The steam you mention is meaningless. One person decides, and it's not someone generating steam.

I give you the full credit for being wrong.

If we get Rivers do we also get Thibodeau? I'll take that combo in a millisecond.

Hope this wasn't posted but here are Lebron's clues! LeBron James spotted wearing Bulls gear.

I just think everyone has been quick to write the Nets off too early as having little or no chance

I reckon they have a much better basketball situation than the Knicks but they Knicks thing has had more buzz around it

If the Nets end up with the top pick than you got to wonder whether a Devin Harris for Joe Johnson swap could work

With Lopez at Center and a stretch forward in Jianlian you need more of a "mop up" 4 that can also play some interior defense

Someone like Udonis Haslem with Josh Boone backing him up in spots would work

Lopez
Haslem ( FA )
James
Johnson
Wall

bench

Shaq ( FA ) /Boone
Jianlian
Williams
Lee/Redick ( FA )
Duhon ( FA )

I believe being in the New York market and winning now - and being in Brooklyn in 2 years - trumps our basketball situation and business situation that we could offer him in Chicago now.

^^^ I think the Nets are also in play because of Jay-Z. It's very much so in the realm of possibility that jay-z will make a song just for Lebron that will be used for team intro's, then they can have a concert like atmosphere once they get to brooklyn. Also, Newark as a location should not be underestimated as there are lots of uconn fans in the area that have money and are into basketball.

And Yi is big for lebron as it gives him easy access to chinese markets. Granted he could be huge in chinese markets without Yi, but it's that much easier with him on the team. Or, he's one player (given his marketability) that the Cavs might not be opposed to taking back in a sign & trade.

But why would ATL be interested in a Harris for Joe Johnson swap?? Does the idea of playing Harris, Bibby and Crawford really sound enticing? sounds like a little much repetitiveness for my liking. I do agree that Haslem may very well be lining up next to lebron next season though, there's a fit there.

Nah...that's actually a pretty good idea.

He'd be perfect for Horford/Smith

Bibby's contract is almost up and moving Crawford would be no problem if they really wanteds to

Bibby's contract is up isn't it

Harris/Crawford/Teague back court. There is balance there

If Yi is a consideration for Lebron then you'd have to think an healthy Yao Ming would be doubly so. I don't know what his health status is but the Rockets have enough pieces to make some trades and clear enough cap space don't they?

Yes its been obvious that they have had room

But because they have had a stinky season and that they aren't really a New York team ( major market etc ) ...my point was , I just thought its easy for them to be overlooked - and especially where the early scuttlebutt on Lebron was Cav for life , or , New York

Then the Chicago thing has developed a life of its own in the last week

But I actually think there is a better basketball fit and therefore long term business fit as a Net if you can get past that they were the worse team in basketball last year

At the end of the day if you can land the #1 pick and turn Dev Harris into Joe Johnson then Brook Lopez is still Brook Lopez. Easy filler with Shaq, Haslem , Redick and Duhon around young complentary reserve pieces in Yi, Boone Williams and Lee

There's no guarantee that John Wall is going to live up to the hype and transform the Nets to a solid playoff team.

That would be an awfully big gamble for Lebron to entrust his career & legacy to a kid who hasn't played a minute in the NBA.

Sham's got Bibby on contract through 2011/2012, although the deal is a little less expensive then I previously thought it was (about $6.5 mill in final year). If Bibby was out of the equation I would say it could work, but with Bibby its looking a little crowded.

Bibby's contract still runs for 2 more years. JCraw's is up after this year, but he's really not the problem. He played a fair amount of SG for Atlanta this season. Harris/ JCraw/ Williams/ Smith/ Horford could be OK. They might want to trade Bibby for any value they can get and then sign a cheap, vet backup PG. So yeah, I could see the Nets being a Joe Johnson S&T destination, especially if they think they can get Lebron. Heck, if they get the #1 pick and draft John Wall, they might want to trade Harris + parts for Johnson anyway and look to sign one of Bosh, Boozer, Amare or Lee.

As was mentioned before, a lot of it depends on the lottery tomorrow night and the Nets luck in winning the Wall sweepstakes. I agree that potentially selling a lineup of Wall, (new SG), LeBron, Yi, and Lopez could be an enticing destination for LeBron.

With that being said, let's keep in mind that they have a 75% chance of not winning the lotto, and without Wall, it will be a MUCH harder sale.

Let's not forget that the Bulls 10 years ago had Artest and Brand (coming off ROY), also two lottery picks and we struck out in FA. We had 15 wins that season IIRC. I still can't believe i watched all those games back in the day....eek
