I'd be absolutely shocked if Vazquez comes out of the pen to pitch under normal circumstances. Obviously not counting injuries, extended rain delays or some 15 inning extravaganza. I also think tonight's game will be a good test for Hughes because I believe this will be the first team he will face for the 2nd time this year. Additionally, not counting that 5 inning Baltimore game, his start against the Red Sox was probably his worst of the year (says a lot about how good he has been). Now the Red Sox have an idea what's coming, let's see how he does. -Jitpal

I know but look at his other starts this year. If you don't look at the Baltimore one, you could argue that the start against the Red Sox was his worst. He's only given up like 6 runs this year. As I said, it's an indicator of how good he has been. I'm just interested to see how he will adjust to a team that has already seen him this year and knows what's coming. Is he still able to dominate or will he struggle a little. -Jitpal

ortiz is batting .222 for a reason.. He has to cheat on fastballs and fast in.. so yea, he will catch up occasionally to a fastball in when he is starting his swing 2 weeks early..... so why make it easy.. I would have pitched him low and away or high and in, bat too slow to catch those.... just bad pitch calling..

yankees went from sugar to S**T in a few innings... they bring in bum azz 85 year old wakefield and we can't get a hit, we bring in park right off the DL and he gives up a two run homer to that fat lumber jack youkalis.... our bullpen is a bit suspect at this point, outside of rivera and joba.....

if we lose this game, it will be the toughest loss of the season.. really struggling with a bum boston team...

what a pathetic effort after putting up 6 in the 1st inning

this team is like the team of 2 years ago, has enough to compete, but not enough to win

why wasnt joba in the game and why was park going multiple innings right after a DL stint?

you have the feeling that everytime wakefield comes in a relief stint vs the yankees, he can shut us down for 100 innings.. really, we have no good approach with that bum...

and really, overusing chan ho park was just asking for it..... and then watch their pen shut us down innings 8 and 9.. geez the bottom half of the order on this team stinks....

the nick johnson signing is officially a bust!!!!!!!!!

blowing a 6 run lead AND gutting your pen in the same game is just a sin
