Haywood and Boozer for $20M combined in Miami makes sense and I would see as more doable than Mare or Bosh coming
I also think Josh Howard might make sense in a Beasley/Cook swap
if you had room to squeeze Ray Felton in ...perfect
Haywood, Boozer, Howard, Wade and Felton is a pretty formidable starting 5

j-smooth wrote:The one constant of teams looking to get Lebron are the "IFs". For NY it's the IF we add a second Free Agent. The Nets is IF we can add the second free agent and get a top 2 pick. Miami is IF we can resign Wade (which looks like it will happen.)
The Bulls however have far less question marks. We have our All Star PG who is a Big Game player. We have a Stud Center who also lives to play in big games and doesn't shy away from the spotlight. We are sitting pretty if you ask me. Plus we have capspace and are ALREADY a playoff team! The same things can't be said about NJ or NY.
Chicago is a prime destination for Lebron Bosh or Wade. Our future doesn't depend on LBJ like the NY. So I like seeing Knicks fans squirm when hearing Lebron called Rose after losing to Boston. It's awesome hearing Chicago is the best place for Lebron and that our odds on Bodog.com is 2 to 1 to land Lebron. The Bulls future is bright and it's a very exciting to be a Bulls fan. Rose and Noah have brought hope, leadership and a winning attitude that was lacking on this team for a while.
yeah its interesting ..
I mean you look at that Nets team going into the season and you wonder where the difference in a 25 game winning margin is
Rose / Noah v Harris / Lopez
At the start of the season and into the early part of that season you probably would have voted Harrix/Lopez as your preferred tandem
Derrick was a cause for concern with how he started the season and we had the motherload of disturbance all through the season so you couldn't say we had a more unstable platform than the Nets
OK we've got a Deng and they don't - and yes Taj was a mild surprise but outside of that what did we really have ?
John Salmons did dick for us this season and Brad Miller really wasn't a difference maker and we got nothing from Kurt or our other rookie
I'm still struggling to see how we ended up 20 to 25 games better off than what they did with Derrick really not coming alive until Christmas and with all the other aforementioned issues we were battling
??
I mean Derrick and Jo were good - BUT are they THAT much better than Harris and Lopez ?
For what its worth I think Derrick showed this season that he is clearly a better point than Devin Harris ( when there were a lot of people that weren't quite sure of this at the beginning of the season ) and yeah .. whilst Jo has some big nuts ... I do believe that Lopez is and will be the better / more dominant Center

I think you ask every GM in ball and they take Derrick, even at the beginning of the year
Lopez is exactly what he was hoped to be coming out of college, a somewhat soft, coordinated big who could fill it up on occasion. I agree that many would have probably taken him instead of Jo at the beginning of the year, but at this point it would be STRONGLY in favor of Jo. Lopez is what he is and likely will remain that.

Recall at all LBJ taking a horrendous Cavs team to the finals? 2nd best player on that team: Larry Hughes
"Unproven" also means Jordan was nothing in his first 6 years. He wasnt. He was an all-time great player on consistently bad teams.
James is MJ Lite with Malone mixed in. Feel free to take Wade who had a still strong Shaquille (and even then still failed to repeat). And Bosh is skilled but soft.

im on the fence but if we could land haywood, howard and felton with the balance wed be nice
haywood
bosh
howard
wade
felton
I think that's a much better balanced team and definitely on par with Orlando, especially if Miami can fill the bench with good enough players.

Re: Lebron/Bulls gossip & rumors (merging)
OK, I have to throw this post out there in response to a Knicks post:
The Knicks have this pitch:
They can add two max free agents. The problem is that they don't have a lot to sign and trade. They gave away their picks. That being said, if they can land Bosh with Lebron, you can make a sales pitch. Just remember, Bosh wants a sign and trade, the only assets NY has is Chandler and Gallo, so they HAVE to go in sign and trade. That means you have nothing to trade with Curry.
The roster would be Bosh, Lebron and a bunch of vet minimum guys.
Knicks fans are delusional. They really have virtually no sales pitch at this point. They have the slimmest of margins to form an NBA team because they have no picks to trade and only two young players. No one is going to take Curry without incentive and guys like Bosh will need assets going out. After that, they need a PG, SG and C plus a full bench.
Last note: The Knicks won 20 some games with David Lee playing his ass off, who won't be on the team next year. Gallo and Chandler form the core of an 8 win team or so. Forget the stats.
Fred Carter 20.0p 6.0r 4.3a
John Block 17.9p 9.2r 2.0a
Bill Bridges 14.0p 12.2r 2.3a
Total 51.9p 27.4r 8.6a
Who are those guys? Well, statistically, they are better than either group. They are also the 3 best guys on the 9-73 Sixer team.

Its the NBA. On every team, someone has to score and rebound. Its not like teams are going to get shut out no matter how bad they are. What counts is winning.

Great post Coldfish.
This is why the only free agents I might see joining Knicks is if they overpay to some of those free agents coz I really don't see Bosh/LeBron/Wade going there.
Maybe if they give Max to Boozer and/or Joe Johnson or over pay big money to other free agents like Josh Howard/Haywood/Felton etc.

I literally was ready to bounce off the walls when i read his post. There was so much wrong with basing basketball opinions on stats and then he says how the Knicks have Gallo/Chandler/James/Max guy and they will trade Curry for something and people will be flocking to NY to play on that team. Um, there is no PG, no C and no SG there.

That's the catch - 22 that I rarely see discussed. Bosh / Lebron is a pretty dangerous pairing. But as we Bulls fans know, Toronto isn't going to S&T him for nothing, David Lee is unrestricted and the Knicks don't have many assets. The only hope for NY is that they can S&T Lee for Bosh, but that means Toronto has to outbid everyone else in the NBA for Lee. Outside of that, the Knicks only have Gallo and Chandler as assets. It would cost both of them for Bosh, leaving the Knicks with no one other than Bosh and Lebron on the roster.
The Knicks could only make it work by overpaying lower quality free agents and not making it a S&T. Is a lower tier guy enough to entice Lebron? Probably not.
They
are
screwed.

Re: Lebron/Bulls gossip & rumors (merging)
One thing to factor in about the Knicks and possibly using David Lee in a s&t is that in order to do so, wouldn't they have to keep his cap hold of about $10+mil (thanks sham)? Not a huge factor because they would still have enough for a max FA still, but not 2 with Lee's cap hold. May prohibit them from even using Lee in a s&t if they think they need two other max FA's and Lee's deal via s&t doesn't happen quickly. It all seems kind of dicey to me. And at the end of the day, can the knicks return from this free agency of big men, and only come back with Lee? No Amare? No Bosh? No Boozer? Lee Again?
Yeah I have doubts Lee will even be used in a sign & trade. I think he's probably done all together over there.

He can't even sign or resign until July unless you can do verbal agreements ahead of time? Wait I don't think that is even possible too usually free agency can't talk with teams until early July then can't sign or resign the team until later in July.
Unless that is your bold predication?

Considering he could be gambling a lot of money away by only signing a 3 year deal yes I'd call it quite bold.
