Re: Izzy Gutierrez from the Herald on Lebron coming here
Imidate talent wise, no. Add contracts not really. Then add that it would be easier to get ride of Beasley, & company, then it is, Dung/Hinrich.
J. Noah + K. Hinrich + T. Gibson = $13.2M for 3 starters. That's $4.4M each, less than the average NBA salary. Those cretainly aren't terrible, untradeable numbers ... hell, how long have I been reading on this board that we should trade an expiring for Hinrich alone? Like 3 years now?
I could see the Thunder jumping all over that package. Noah becomes their starting center and part of their core for a decade, T. Gibson could overtake Green at PF, and Hinrich provides a solid bench combo guard for 2 years on a declining contract. They could add future picks in the deal too if they want.
J. Noah + L. Deng + T. Gibson. Why wouldn't Minnesota take this? They upgrade bigtime at SF, get the perfect agile/defensive big men to complete their frontcourt in J. Noah and T. Gibson. Draft Evan Turner, get Ricky Rubio signed, and you're stacked at every position top to bottom. How are they gonna spend $14M in cap space better than on those 3 players? No free agents want to go there...
And btw, I think Toronto would prefer the package in a sign-and-trade over Beasley + crap. Not saying they'd like either package, but they'd at least Noah/Deng/Gibson gives them a couple players that would fit.
Bottom line is, for every scenario we can imagine where some team helps us clear cap room, there's one you can come up with for Chicago as well.
So to me i would say it is better to have the opportunity to get that 3rd max player then it would be to have Dung, & Hinrich.
We do have that opportunity. And so does Chicago. As evidenced above, neither Deng or Hinrich is that horrible when packaged with a near-All-Star center on a rookie contract (Noah) and a starting rookie PF.
But in the end it wont be up to use, CHI, TOR, or CLV, but the players themselves.
Right on!

What's your problem?
This is the Miami Heat forum. We discuss things to do with the Miami Heat here, and sometimes it will have a bit of a homerish feel to it. If that upsets you, stay on your own board.

Seriously...Lebron was pissed he didn't win the MVP of that game. I think he would have been more pissed if he lost that game...see where im going. Its one thing to be the best on your team, but when you cant win a championship after 7 years and are called the king, he might just be a prince.

You are an extremely even handed poster. Your conclusion are actually well thought out. I salute you.

i feel like people have taken the lebron just wants to win thing out of context..
just like with wade, i always saw it as a warning shot to the current team more than the actual reason theyll be going anywhere
anyone can leave and go to a contender in free agency..the greatest players build one on their current team

In early years and without an NBA cap, a great player could simply stay put, and his team to keep the player happy and knowing that with the main piece in place, adding a few extra pieces would equal a contending/championship team and would overspend to make it happen .. fast forward to 2010, and the only way to win multiple championships is by having top talent around you, not just one, but multiple pieces, but due to the cap, a player now must accept joining another team with the pieces .. a complete different scenario .. That old notion of staying on the same crappy team cannot and will not fly today due to the reasons above, sorry, but that notion is dismissed.

^ like kobe bryant and tim duncan?
theres no set rule to doing anything.
im pretty sure there were plenty of teams in the 70-80s who tried and failed to build contenders by finding pieces..
we just dont remember that.
