Eleven-Time National Emmy Award-Winning Sportscaster Jim Gray Joins Kings Broadcast Team as Special Correspondent

-- Gray, a two-time American Sportscasters Association (ASA) Sportscaster of the Year in the Sports Reporter category, to help build Kings brand worldwide --

SACRAMENTO, CA, May 14, 2010 -- Eleven-time national Emmy Award-winning sportscaster Jim Gray is joining the Sacramento Kings broadcast team as a Special Correspondent, the team announced today.

Gray will begin reporting for the Kings on May 18 by covering the “NBA’s GREATEST Draft Lottery Party” in Midtown Sacramento. He will serve as a Kings reporter for 20 Kings games next season, cover special Kings events and conduct interviews with high-profile figures around the world to be aired on Kings broadcasts.

“We are ecstatic to add someone with the depth of experience and global reach that Jim will bring to Kings broadcasts,” said Kings co-owners Joe and Gavin Maloof. “Jim’s reporting will help build the Kings brand worldwide.”

This means the end of Kayte Christensen, I guess? Not sure what to think about this...why did Gray decide to come here, of all places? He used to be the biggest of the biggest sideline reporters. And only 20 games? What about the other 62 games (plus pre-season and maybe post-season)? Hm.

Wow. Jim Gray must have really fallen off the map. I bet it was that **** JT who complained about Kayte's height making him feel insecure and thus got her fired.

He needs to grow up.

Kayte you were terrible at your job but I still love you more than anyone the Maloofs could ever hire.

You know what's going to happen now? She's going to get a nice job on the national level, and then she won't be our gem anymore. And then everyone's going to be talking about her and I will just feel lost in the crowd.

Well, at least now half of game threads won't be I HEART YOU KAYTE. She's just too damn tall.

Is it bad that someone who really wants to get into Sports Journalism doesn't know who Jim Gray is? >.>

I love Jim Gray after the Brawl. His voice was quivering like crazy. He sounded terrified.

Yes, that's a real problem.

All you short dudes need to get over feeling inferior about tall chicks.

I remember the Pete Rose interview. I thought Jim Gray was the biggest as*h*ole ever for doing that. Ya we all know what he was accused of (and later admitted) but that night was a chance to be recognized as one of the greats of all time. Pete Rose probably will never get into the HOF so essentially that was his induction into immortality. Classless move on Gray's part. the man made a mistake, just let him enjoy that night.

The funniest one of all time is when Jim went up to Webbers former head coach thinking it was his father. Wish there was a video of that. Oh and who could ever forget the infamous phone call from Allen Iverson at the trade deadline? Jim said that iversons name showed up on his cell phone, then claimed that Iverson told him how excited he was to be joining Kevin Garnett and the Timberwolves. Minutes later, i believe it was at halftime, Jim comes out and admits that it was 'an Imposter' and he had been bamboozled' .

That was the last time i saw Jim Grey on the air, and one can only hope he keeps the laughs coming.
