Thoughts?

I don't like Rip at all... he's grossly overpaid, terribly inefficient, old, and oft-injured.... but moving up 6 spots is pretty good...yea I'd do it.

I would. Hamilton makes 2-3 mil more per year for the same length as Calderon, but he would be a really nice mentor for DD and would be our starter next year and a good 6th man backup for the remaining 2 years, then moveable as an expiring in his last year. He is most definitely over paid, but moving up 6 spots does make up for it IMO.

It would be a no brainer if Hamilton was swapped for Gordon.

Calderon had one foot out the door, banks is an expiring and the 13th is well the 13th.So getting hamilton i say no harm no foul.

How about this random idea:

Gordon ($10,800,000)
Villanueva ($7,020,000)
Maxiell ($5,000,000)
#7

for

Evans ($5,080,000)
Banks ($4,847,586)
Turkoglu ($9,800,000)
Belinelli ($2,380,270)
#13

DET moves 3 long term contracts for 1 in Turk. They receive 12+ mil in expiring contract to join with Prince's expiring for 23 Mil +.

TOR gains more talent in turn and moves up 6 spots.

Jack/Calderon
Gordon/DD
Weems/#7 (Aminu?)
Amir/Villanueva
Bargnani/Maxiell

Since when does Weems bring any kind of defense to the court anyway?

i think Detroit says no and i also dont want Charlie V back.

I really want to work something out with Detroit though to move up. Either expiring + #13 for Hamilton + #7 or Calderon + Evans + #13 for Hamilton + #7 + Maxiell

Here's what I came up with last night:

To Lakers: Jose Calderon
To Philly: Shannon Brown, Marco Belinelli, Vujacic, Toronto cash considerations
To Toronto: Iguodala

Then something like:

Scenario 1:

To New Orleans: Sonny Weems, Reggie Evans, Marcus Banks
To Toronto: Emeka Okafor
*similar proposal to Golden State for Biedrins

Scenario 2:

To Portland: Sonny Weems, Reggie Evans, Joey Dorsey
To Toronto: Marcus Camby
*similar proposal to Orlando for Gortat

Then, trade #13 down for OKC's #21 and #26 and draft a PG and a SF.

Giving us something like:

Jack/Bledsoe(#26)
Iguodala/DeRozan
Turkoglu/Damion Jones(#21)
Bosh/Amir
Bargnani/Okafor/Dorsey

or

Jack/Banks/Bledsoe(#26)
Iguodala/DeRozan
Turkoglu/Damion Jones(#21)
Bosh/Amir
Bargnani/Camby

Someone (rapsobsessed7) please comment on this, I was up til 230 am last night coming up with these scenarios.

The Pistons give up too much talent. It seems that Dumars is looking for talent back in return, not salary relief.

I beg to differ joe wants a clean slate and he's now stuck with gordon and charlie for 4 more long years. And auburn hills is not selling out anymore so who's really noticing anyway.

Yea, they're not just looking for salary relief, that's why the Hamilton - Calderon swap makes sense, they get rid of a problem, make room for Gordon and get a real PG since the Stuckey experiment is clearly not working.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

I do like it for the Raptors obviously but heres the thing. Phillys GM has been told to compete next year or hes gone basically. So i dont see them trading Iguodala for expiring contracts. However they are a tax team as of right now and they cant be for next season, comcast is notorious for being cheap so they do need to avoid tax.

I have no doubt in my mind if you gave them useless expiring contracts and took Brand + Iguodala they would sign off immediately. I dont think they do that deal though.

Also the Lakers dont want to add substantial payroll, i mean they set their coaching salary limit at 5 million meaning they could let Jackson walk if he demands more. The only deal i see them doing is Sasha + Walton + 2011 1st for Calderon.

I think a Philly deal that is much closer and depends how cheap they are and direction they are going would be. Evans + Banks + #13 (Xavier Henry) for Andre Iguodala. I think thats more plausible.

As for your 2nd scenario trades. I dont like giving up Weems. I also dont think Amir resigns if he has Okafor/Gortat/Camby/Biedrins competing with him for minutes. I think re-signing Amir + getting someone to play small minutes like a Josh Powell or someone like that, makes more sense. That way Amir can develop and get his minutes so i dont see that happening.

So all in all, i dont see Philly doing that unless Brand is added for expiring contracts otherwise they probably would demand Derozan and the #13 (but im hoping their cheap enough to just do the #13). Also i dont think backup C is the way to go unless their a project like a Daniel Orton/Hassan Whiteside. Hope that helps man.

I arranged a 4-Team-Deal with the Trade Machine that gave me a pretty good team I think

To Toronto:
T. Prince, D. Collison, D. Jones

To Detroit
H. Turkoglu, M. Peterson, S. Weems

To Indiana
D. West, J. Posey, J. Wright

To New Orleans
B. Gordon, J. Calderon, T. Handsbrough, M. Dunleavy

I think it would benefit in different ways the teams, with some picks exchanges... Detroit frees up a lot of cap space so they can rebuild that distasteful teams that they have, Indiana gets an All-Star player to help Granger and two useful veterans + cap space to sign good FA, New Orleans gets another star in the back to play with Paul, two good role players and can go after some top dogs. While Toronto gets good pieces where needed, e.g. the defensive end, and can draft a C or sign one

Roster would be like:

PG: Collison + Jack (Banks)
SG: Derozan + Belinelli (Jones)
SF: Prince + Jones (Derozan)
PF: Bargnani + Johnson or Evans
C: Draft Pick + Role player via trade (maybe dealing Evans)

I think this would create a lot of freshness in the backcourt (something that has been missing for years now) and having good defenders on the perimeter would help developing a young C and Bargnani. Sorry, i don't think Bosh stays and that's a trade I thought if he goes for nothing
At least we're not the Pistons

The only player I want from the Pistons is Ben Gordon. He will have the freedom here to become the offensive player he wants, and the Raps finally have a SG who can create his own shot. Rip is too old, and Princes gets injured too easily and we already have a SF in Turk (like it or not). Jose + Marco for Ben Gordon works on the trade tracker. Charlie V can keep tweeting in Detroit.
