I don't think that's fair exactly. He has a mean streak and is extremely competitive. He's also extremely coordinated for a big man his size. It's a testament to his skill level that he played with John Wall and three other first rounders and he was the clear cut #1 option on his team. I think Cousins is better than anything we have at the moment and could be a #1 option on a championship team. He's the only player at #4 that has that kind of ceiling. With his stregnth and more direct movement he'll get to the free throw line at a very high rate.

I think we HAVE to take him and trade Al for a wing.

To be fair, it actually seems like Cousins is TOO interested. He seems really competitive and when something happens that bothers him, he sometimes reacts badly.

This is a problem, because if he can't control himself, he probably won't maximize his potential, but he doesn't seem lazy to me.

He often has poor body language. A lot of times that gets misconstrued.

Maybe you are just misconstruing it as poor body language when in fact its a deeper matter....

AFA = Gerald Wallace
WJ = Shawn Marion

I'd rather have Wallace, even if it takes a year or two to get there.

Fit, shooting and negligible upside difference (age schmage, Wes is every bit of an athlete as AFA) > tweener with questionable perimeter skills.

Hes already working on his perimeter game, and has made some good improvement.

I see it more as:
AFA: Kirilenko
WJ: Rashard Lewis (slightly smaller)

That wouldn't be misconstruing. It's poor body language regardless, so there smarty pants.

3 inches = slightly smaller?

So you'd rather go from 15 to 30 wins next year with the potential of 35-40 wins in future versus going from 15 to 25 wins with the potential of 45-50 wins in future.

I think if we are going for the best player right now, take Johnson over Aminu. But if we are thinking who the best will be in 5-10 years, take Aminu over Johnson.

Rashard Lewis doesn't use his height, so the height distinction is quite meaningless actually, only to say Johnson will guard 3's, and Lewis 4's. I think offensive role, impact will be same.

No I would not rather have that. You are talking as if your projections are fact. I think Wes Johnson is a better player and will alway be a better player than AFA. WJ is not a franchise savior. Neither is AFA. Neither of them are, nor will they ever be, #1 options. I just think WJ is a better piece to our puzzle.

WJ has a bunch of stuff we lack. Athleticism, deep shooting at great percentages, wise shot selection, and defensive tools.

AFA has Athleticism (not any more than WJ), and defensive tools. He's a project. And he's a tweener.

Just because you can play two positions does not mean you are a tweener. AFA is as natural a SF as you will find and if he gains some weight he may also be able to play PF. AFA doesn't have any mismatch undertones as a SF.

I disagree. On offense he's going to look quite lost on the perimeter in the triangle.

He's about as natural of a SF as Josh Smith.
