Rambis' Impact on the Draft

What do you all think will be the impact of Coach Rambis and the triangle offense on the player selection in this year's draft. Since the Wolve's have so many tradeable assets, it would seem that they could get any 2 or three players they target at or below where they pick.

So if you combine Kahn strategy of taking the best player available and Rambis' triangle offense needs. the first step is Kahn's by adding to his collection of tradeable assets by taking the BPA at 4, 16 and 23 whoever they are.

Next it is Rambis' turn he has his list of the player's that best fits his offense/defensive schemes.

I would think Turner/ Wall are at the top of Rambis' list. Who are the rest of his top five?

1 Turner
2 Wall

I would guess that he would value bigs with size and passing skills and shot blocking ability.
Monroe: 6'10" - 3.8 Assists 1.5 Blocks
Oduh: 6'10" - 2.7 Assists 3.7 Blocks

Small forwards with athleticism, size , passing and shooting skills
Johnson: 6'7" - 2.2 Assists, 1.8 Blks 8.5 Rebs, 41.5 3P%
George: 6.7 - 3.0 Assists, 0.8 Blks, 7.2 Rebs 35.3 3P%

Then it is up to Kahn to convert this tradeable assets into 2 of these rookies and some better fitting young vets.

I'm thinking that both Cousins and Favors would be right after Turner and Wall.

Rambis is smart enough to take value over fit, and from what I understand, he really values length and size.

I see Rambis as Kahn's alter ego. Kahn is all about maximizing value. But, Rambis, the coach, has to be about converting that value into a team not just a collection of talent.

There's no way. Unless you're saying that Kahn wears stilts when he's in his Rambis costume.

Ummmm, I'm guessing Rambis and Kahn share the same vision.....otherwise, Rambis would not be head coach.

I think the pressure is on both Kahn and Rambis to turn all of these assets into a coherent functional team by the end of this off-season. It won't be a finished product but it should be a facsimile of one. The line about spending this past season evaluating player isn't going to fly for another year. By the end of this offseason, I would expect Kahn and Rambis to have a coherent functional team that fits effectively with Rambis' offensive and defensive schemes.

I wouldn't be suprised to leave the draft with a starting five of:

Darko
Monroe or Udoh
Johnson
Brewer
Flynn

and by the beginning of the 2012 season to have replaced Brewer with a #1 scorer and Flynn with Rubio. assuming of course they can't parley all of there assets into Turner or Wall this off-season. Which of course would be there first priority. But not likely to happen.

I would, because it would mean that Kahn has abandoned any hope that we'll be competing for a championship anytime in the near future.

Vision yes. But the coach needs to have input to trades so the end result is a better team.

The consensus is that Cousins in the 4th best player available hence having the 4th highest value. So Kahn selects Cousins with the fourth pick. Maximizing player value.

Rambis tell Kahn, Cousins style of player doesn't fit my system to kahn trades Cousins for a equitable or better player/players that fits his system. Maintaining or increasing player value while maximizing team performance.

a relatively simple concept.

So we take Johnson at 4, and trade Love AND Al for a pick in the 6-11 range? Kahn's gonna need some serious amounts of lube in order to handle these deals.

I'd like to think that Al, Love, or Love+Al could net us Kevin Martin or Devin Harris at least (hopefully Granger, Iggy, Turner, Gay, etc).
