Your 2010 Phoenix Suns!

This thread is to let others know what you would do as GM in 2010. Re-sign Amare?? Trade Nash?? Give Frye that big payday he's looking for? What moves would you make. What FA's would you sign. Who would you draft? Let the Suns board know where you stand on next years team! :D

As i posted in another thread, one idea/scenario i came up with is:

What i would do in the offseason is re-sign both Dudley and Amundson. Let Frye go, and let Hill know we will be rebuilding. Dont know if he will or not, but if he isnt ready to hang it up yet see if he would like to be sent to a contender (**See Nash trade below).

1. Amare to NJ for Twill/Yi/#3. Draft Favors with the pick.

Nash/Dragic
Jrich/Barbosa/Twill
Hill/Dudley/Clark
Favors/Yi
Lopez/Amundson

2. Trade Barbosa to Portland for Rudy/Pendergraph/2nd round pick. Draft Dexter Pittman.

Nash/Dragic
Jrich/Twill/Rudy
Hill/Dudley/Clark
Favors/Yi/Pendergraph
Lopez/Pittman/Amundson

3. Trade Nash to ORL for Nelson/Draft Pick. Draft Willy Warren.* *(If Hill doesnt retire, send him with Nash)

Nelson/Dragic/Warren
Jrich/Twill/Rudy
Dudley/Clark
Favors/Yi/Pendergraph
Lopez/Pittman/Amundson

Young, Athletic, DEFENSIVE team. Also a real cheap team. Use one of our 2nd round picks for a SF. I also believe we would have some $$ left over to sign a young FA SF to start (Gay?).

Nelson/Dragic/Warren
Jrich/Twill/Rudy
Gay/Dudley/Clark
Favors/Yi/Pendergraph
Lopez/Pittman/Amundson

Then trade Jrich before the trade deadline to a team looking for a $14mill expiring.

And if all else fails, we still own our 2011 1st rounder!!! :D

BRING ON THE REBUILD !!!!

Now im sure that between now and preseason i will change my mind and post about 10 different variants.

Resign Amare to $17m for 4
Resign Frye and Lou to the MLE
Trade JRich for Iggy.

Haven't looked at the draft but try to sign either a defensive big or a defensive guard.

I had the same thoughts about the No.3 pick from Nets.

But are they willing to do so?

Yi + T.Williams + No.3 definitely a Yes for me.

But Nets can easily just offer Lee instead of Williams.

If rumours are true that Nets are high on Stoudemire, perhaps because he is more exciting than Bosh, Boozer etc. And they believe that B.Lopez's will make a good partner for Stoudemire (which I do believe also) then its not a far fetch deal.

Why would Blazers want Barbosa?

If they do want him, they dont want him enough to give away 1-2 "good" young players. Barbosa hasnt exactly had a good season.

A 3 way perhaps?

Iguadala still available I think, although his contract is massive as previously discussed and J.Rich has shown life and is very very valuable end of next season... I think I'd keep J.Rich.

Assuming Stoudemire is out...
I do like Clark to get sixth man minutes or even starter minutes next season, again depending on who is coming in for the Suns.... I think the system, Nash, and improvements with Lopez, Dragic etc will not allow the Suns to drop off too much, maybe still an 8th seed.

Suns Trade: Amare Stoudemire to Houston for Jordan Hill, Luis Scola S&T (3 years 25 mil), Shane Battier + 2010 #14 + 2012 1st round pick.

Suns Trade: Steve Nash to Toronto for Demar Derozen + Jarrett Jack + Marco Belinelli + 2010 1st Round Pick #12.

Suns Trade: Leandro Barbosa to Atlanta for Mo Evans + 2010 1st Round pick #24

Suns tell Channing Frye to GTFO. Grant Hill retires both saving us 4.5 mil in 2011.

Suns Draft: Avery Bradley at #12, Hassan Whiteside at #14 and Elliot Williams at #24.

2011 Lineup:

Jack (Expiring), Dragic, Bradley
Derozen, Evans (Expiring), Belinelli
Battier (Expiring), Dudley/Clark, Williams
Scola, Hill, Lou
Lopez, Whiteside

2012 Lineup:

Dragic, Bradley
Derozen, Belineli
Clark, Dudley, E-Will
Hill, Scola, Lou
Lopez, Whiteside

Or Amare to NJ for T-Will, Yi + #3

Resign Amare (we won't get anything better if he walks).

Offer Frye 9mill/3 year. If he declines, let him go.

Resign Lou.

Keep Richardson. If he starts sucking then they can shop him at the trade deadline.

I like this team. Keep it together.

Going to try to make it realistic...

-Sign and trade Amare, most likely to the Heat for their #16 draft pick

-Draft Daniel Orton with that pick, draft a project big man along with a Euro to stash over seas with the two second rounders

-Let Frye and Lou walk, don't pick up Griffins option

-Trade Barbosa for a second rounder and expirings

-Sign Amir Johnson to a 5 year midlevel deal

-Sign Raja Bell to the bi-anual exception

C-Rob Lopez/Daniel Orton/Project big man
PF-Amir Johnson/Earl Clark
SF-Hill/Dudley
SG-J-Rich/Bell
PG-Nash/Dragic

With Stat, NJ knows what they are getting. There is a reason he is at the top of their list. Most people say that this is a 2 person draft. Wall 1st, Turner 2nd. You really dont know what you are going to get with Farvors/Cousins. I figured the offer is low enough that they might do it. And as you stated, the Nets could offer Lee instead of Twill (I would prefer Twill), but Lee wouldnt be that bad (in a back-up role) either. Amare is PERFECT next to the rebounding machine known as Brook Lopez, and Amares Jumper means that Amare wont need to be crowding the paint for Lopez.

Blazer fans seem really high on Barbosa and i think he would do great there as Roys Backup. They are giving up Rudy (who is in a major doghouse in Portland right now) and a 2nd round rookie in Pendergraph. The draft pick that i put down for them is an early 2nd rounder, so its easier for them to get rid of.

I wish we could sign Tim Thomas and get rid of Frye. At least Tim Thomas isn't completely useless when his three isnt falling.

Amare S&T for T-Dub, Yi + #3 would be a perfect deal. Only problem is we might have to give up future picks which i'd be fine with. Also, they'll have to use their 32 mil in cap-space on hopefully Rudy Gay or Joe Johnson to make T-Will expendable.

Harris, Dooling
JJ, Lee
Gay, CDR
Amare, Huphries
Lopez, DAL's pick

Just under the cap if JJ/Gay are given Max deals which their owner is willing to pay.

I like that idea but...

"I've talked a lot about it with my agent and my family," the 6-foot-5 defensive stopper and 3-point specialist said. "Miami is my first choice. If there would be any interest from the Heat I would give it a ponder. It's my home town"

resign Lou to MLE
resign amare but cap at 16 million a year
trade LB for picks and draft a big man if not package picks to get quality big men
let channing go or sign him but not for the 5 mill he asking.
Hire a new assistant to increase Alvin's ability to play better defensively not just implemention but also strategically.
keep J-rich and offer him a new contract like around 9-12 million that stretches through his prime.
let go of collins
keep dwayne jones.
have bill cartwright work with Earl Clark and mentor him.
begin talks wit lopez on a new contract extension

What if we tried to trade amare to phili for the second? We could then draft turner and then trade jrich and or barbosa for picks/young bigs. Actually no amare wouldn't stay in phili but it would be cool if we could. I think either way jrich or barbosa needs to go next year and at this point it should be barbosa.

our biggest problem is our shooting guards because both play no D and shooting guard position is probably the most talented in the nba at this point. Both are streaky offense only type players and both are being overpaid for what they brought to the table this year, jrich made up for it offensively but his contract hurts a rebuilding team and he won't get those numbers without nash and amare opening up threes. Trading Jrich to new orleans would be interesting.. not for peja though.

Re-sign Amare. Re-sign Frye. Let Dragic, Lopez, Clark progress. I want Lou back here, but I don't think he is going to stay sadly simply because Clark won't get any playing time elsewhere unless Hill retires. If we could get Barbosa for Rudy I think I would take it. I love LB but I think Rudy would be a better combo with Dragic.

is it realistic that the nets trade for amare and we get their first in the deal? the new owner seems to want to make a splash but will he do it? I am actually excited of the possibility of that deal.

Keep the young core of this team trade away unnecessaries and old guys..

Nash to ORL, ORL wil then send some expirings and several picks to MIN and we get draft rights to Ricky Rubio.

Trade Grant Hill to a BOS and we get a S&T(im not sure if they have cap space left but they have a lot of expiring contracts.I didnt bother with the math..).That S&T will be Amir Johnson or any other "real" center

Trade LB and Griff to MEM and we get the # 28, arthur, carrol
then draft elliot williams

Keep J-Richs expiring, let FRye walk sign, amundson to no more than twice his salary.

And Finally,as Kerrsed said earlier

Trade Amar'e to NJ for Lee, Yi and FAvors

Rubio/Dragic
Richardson/Lee/Williams
Clark/Dudley/Carroll
Favors/Arthur
Lopez/Johnson

I doubt Miami would give us much let alone a #16 pick when they could sign Amare outright. Even then I don't think they would sign him to a max deal anyway. Also I don't think Bell is worth a Bi-annual exception, we have enough 3PT shooters and I don't think his defense is going to turn this team around. It sounds like he's campaigning to go to Miami anyway.

I still want to trade JRich for Iggy, but I doubt Sarver would give up JRich's expiring contract.

With Philly getting the #2 pick it makes Iggy a goner assuming they draft Turner. Bad for us because other teams can offer much more for Iggy.
