1994 - Juwan Howard, #1Glenn Robinson
1993 - Isaiah "JR" Rider, #1Chris Webber
1992 - LaPhonso Ellis, #1Shaq
1991 - Steve Smith, #1Larry Johnson
1990 - Kendall Gill, #1Derrick Coleman
1989 - Herman "J. R." Reid, #1Pervis Ellison (man it's been that long since we've won the lottery. ROUGH)
1988 - Mitch Richmond, #1Danny Manning

My thinking is that:

*The #5 pick has produced good talent even in bad drafts
*Most draft misses are on big men

So I'm thinking that this is a deep draft. What we need to look at is all the bigs in the draft and see what their value is. I don't think Al Jefferson is worth a 5th pick. I don't like most of the trades going on. There are a lot of bigs in this draft not named Cousins and Favors that could end up good pros.

*Petrie usually drafts really well

Let the draft process play out before you trade the pick or settle on "the guy."

If Cousins is off board along with Wall, Turner, Favors...then I think the best players on the board consist of Monroe, Johnson and Aminu.

Monroe is the most 'need-based' by position, Johnson probably is the best overall player and Aminu has that skill-set we need most in rebouding.
