Gentry reveals strategy for game three: Let Kobe score 80

Post#1 » by Cqc_Nastyn8 » Fri May 21, 2010 5:00 pm

Things couldn’t have gone much better for the Los Angeles Lakers in the first two games of their Western Conference Finals series with the Phoenix Suns. They thoroughly dominated in game one, with Kobe Bryant having a signature high-scoring game.

Possibly worse for the Suns, the Lakers proved they didn’t need Kobe to score (as much) by winning game two by a comfortable margin. Kobe found away around possible fatigue in his knee by playing the facilitator to perfection (broken down here by ESPN’s TrueHoop), assisting on threes and feeding the un-guardable (at least by Phoenix) Pau Gasol over and over.

After the game, Suns head coach Alvin Gentry was searching for answers. He even asked the media what they thought he should do. Finally, he came up with a possible solution:

“We just have to take a look at the tape tonight and maybe we’ll decide that we let Kobe get 80 and try to guard the other guys.”

That's not the plan. That was a joke. It says it's before he watched the tape.

I see the suns coming out and trying to play some fake-thug defense and counting on the home cooking and officiating to allow them to get away with it.

I think we saw a bit of it at times in game 2. I expect more in game 3.

Fouls will be harder and I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see a flag 1 in there for good measure. I think Dudley, Amundson, and Amare will be the culprits... With perhapse a little Richardson thrown in for good measure.

I think it plays right into our hands too.

Balance scoring will win the game.

I love both the suns and lakers but this series is over, the suns just have no answer for anything the lakers do. They dig a huge hole early in the game and when they try to come back the lakers just throw another haymaker to knock them down.

ps. Amare is one of my Fav. players in the league but that man has disappointed me so badly this series, hes showing no heart and clearly got dominated by both gasol and odom. He should talk less and let his game do the damn talking.

SO how exactly are they going to stop Bynum Gasol & Odom.

Barbs cant guard Gasol and its not like we have Ariza anymore so they cant deport him.

Deport Gasol is their only chance.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

My team is a power, they tried to stay at home on Gasol, Odom and Artest and they all made them pay. Alven Gentry will get tired of Bryant will going off on him, Hill, Richardson or Dudley can't guard him without help. The bottom line is that the Suns can't guard the Lakers, Bynum, Odom and Gasol will eat the paint up, Artest, Bryant and Firsher will light them up from the outside, and Farmar and Brown will attack the rim when how ever they feel. we can beat this team we just have to out score them.
