Kevin Love on Dan Patrick Show

Not a huge fan of dan patrick, and I haven't listened to it yet, but here is the link to the Kevin Love podcast on Dan Patrick's show today.

The Minnesota Timberwolves' Kevin Love joined the show to talk about the state of the team entering the NBA draft.

Love talked about LeBron James and why he wouldn't want to come to Minnesota. "LeBron James is not going to want to come to that 20 below weather for all that time," Love said.

Love thinks that Chicago would make more sense with guys like Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah than Minnesota.

Love also talked about the possibility of the Timberwolves taking a power forward in the draft. Love mentioned DeMarcus Cousins and Derrick Favors. "If they did that, myself or Al Jefferson may have to look elsewhere," Love said.

Love commented on the Timberwolves potentially bringing in Ricky Rubio. "I hope he makes it," Love said. "I'm tired of talking about it."

Love also looked back at his days at UCLA. He said "get to the NBA" was his major.

They had a summary on there...from the summary makes it seem like Love hates it here and is angry for some reason.

yeah he sounded like he had a real chip on his shoulder and when patrick asked the question about drafting a PF, he sounded serious in saying he and al would look elsewhere...the rest of the stuff wasn't as angry sounding as the text form makes it look....more joking than anything. I want KLove to beast so hopefully he gets a good chance with some talent around him this year to really tear it up.

he's right, they would have to look elsewhere. Especially if its Favors, maybe both will be looking elsewhere. Cousins/Love works though. Cousins/Jefferson seems counterproductive since there's not going to be enough touches

If we wanted to keep all 3 for a year and see who plays well with who, I'd be okay with that. But I don't think we could bring Darko back. Al could teach some moves to Cousins, and love could teach some passing. Rambis could work wonders for Cousins just like he did with Bynum. What if we could get Favors AND Cousins? Love for #3?

The write up does make him sound angry. At no point did I get that feeling when listening to it. He was joking. He definately did say at the end that he hopes the wolves don't draft a big. That is understandable as he does not want to move, which he acknowledged is a strong possibility in the beginning of the interview. I think that is a good sign that he wants to stay. The one thing that did worry me was when he and Patrick joke about how much he'll get paid for his second contract. I think it is inevitable that he is going to get overpayed by someone, meaning leaving the wolves or burdening them with said contract. A worry for another day I guess.

Now JohnWall2theWizards had the credibility to make a claim like this, that guy is freaking psychic. But this sounds a little too much like fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me.

He explicitly said in the interview that he hopes to continue playing with the Wolves (along with Rubio).

I used to like Dan Patrick, but he's kind of a giant knob now.

I think Cousins/Love potentially could work better than Al/Love because Cousins is bigger and could develop more defensively. That being said, It doesn't seem likely and we'd still need a Darko/Varajao/Noah-type to pick up the pieces.

I like love if we have legit size next to him. A 3-man rotation of love/Darko/Cousins would be fine. Play each roughly 30 min.

I think Love improves the better his teammates improve. He is a dominate role player and can do what he does without having the plays called for him.

One concern is that it still leaves the team without anyone capable of guarding outside shooting and athletic bigs. Cousin's size is certainly an improvement, but size alone isn't the problem - does anyone project his defensive ability to be better than Jefferson's? Will he be able to protect the lane and rotate properly?

I also don't like the idea of only having lumbering bigs. With that trio it seems Darko will still be the quickest/most athletic - it would be nice to have one quick big.

Cousins is quick for a guy his size. Darko in his past, has been used to defend those types of face-up fwds. I believe we used him this year for that.

I think having a true SF with size and athletic ability helps also. That way if we play an Orlando-type with a face-up 4 we can use them in a smaller line-up. Otherwise I like having the crazy size and making those small sally teams beat us in the trenches.

Agreed. Our SFs this year were Gomes, Wilkins, and Pavlovic. Enough said.
