Here's the thing. I think that if Kahn feels, after workouts, that DeMarcus Cousins's ceiling is Zach Randolph and that he's convinced Evan Turner will be a cross between Brandon Roy and Scottie Pippen, I think he does this.

A few days ago we were saying that we would do whatever it takes to get E.T. (at least I was), and I, for one, am not 100% ready to say I wouldn't do this. We have to use our cap space on something, eventually, and if we're convinced this is our only chance to get a legitimate star wing, we do it.

Of course, this is only if Kahn really doesn't think Cousins will ever reach his potential and we won't get back fair value in the secondary trades that would be necessary if we drafted Cousins.

I still don't think it's something we should completely rule out. I, for one, am still extremely high on Evan Turner, and only just starting to gradually come around on Cousins.

At this point I would rather keep Cousins and try to get Wes Johnson. I've given up on the idea of Turner.

Plus he sounds like a muppet..We don't need that.

The article doesn't mention what they would want in return.

Are they willing to simply dump the 2nd pick if someone will take Brand? Or do they want a decent player in return as well?

I agree it would be nice to know what they're asking price is going to be. I for one am on board for whatever it takes within reason to get Evan Turner. I would like to be able to hold onto the 4 as well if possible.

Other than "lots of skills, possible attitude" I am not sure how you would see Randolph in Cousins. They seem very different.

Cousins ceiling isn't Randolph, no way. Cousins got to the line a ridiculous amount this season, different than both Randolph and Jefferson. He could completely flameout because of attitude issues, but his ceiling is high.

Randolph was arbitrary. I'm just saying that if Kahn doesn't think Cousins will live up to his superstar potential and Turner will, I don't think he will pass on any opprtunity to get us a superstar player. That seems to be something he repeats fairly often.

It if it something like Gomes, Hollins and the 16/23 for Brand and 2, I'd do it. I know it's a lot of salary but by the time Turner and Cousins would end their rookie contracts, Brand would be ending his so it'd balance out. But only in a scenario like that, no way would I want to part with something good, like the 4, for that kind of ridiculous dead salary.

The other threads had pointed to the #2/Brand for Al/#4...

Based on this latest "leak" from the 76'ers...we should explore some type of an Al/#16 to see if they will bite.

No way the Wolves should give Al/#4 in this scenario...

I would be more surprised by a report saying that they aren't listening to offers. They would be dumb to not at least listen to what they could get in return.

I think taking on Brand's contract AND giving up value wouldn't be worth it. Plus, I'm pretty sold on Cousins right now.

What Rasheed was meant to be or what his laziness made him into? Because I'm not keen on drafting a 12-8 guy at 4, even with solid defence.

Actually, its 15 and 7.....but during his best years in Portland he was 19 and 8.

Other than "lots of skills, possible attitude" I am not sure how you would see Randolph in Cousins. They seem very different.

They have similar builds, similar skills, and attack the offensive glass in a similar manner while in school, have soft touch around the basket and use a similar arsenal of moves to get their offense, and surprisingly good feet for pudgy guys. In addition, they both have maturity questions and similar body language.

Cousins is longer and more unique from a size standpoint, so there's a difference in upside, but stylistically there are certainly enough similarities to draw that comparison.

He is more of an inside player than Wallace. His inside scoring numbers were historic.

I do not think we will ever use our cap space to bring in a legit free agent. So if we can move "cap+Gomes" for Brand+Turner then I do it in a second. You will not find a Turner like player by moving other assets. Our best bet would be giving Gay a Brand-like contract.

If we do not need to give up the 4, love or Rubio and still get the #2 you do it in a second.

How ironic would it be to acquire Brand in a deal where we send cap space to Philly, when it was our deal sending cap space to Philly was the key for Philly to sign Brand to his current contract......

Yea I was aiming towards his best days in Portland, I should have clarified on that.
