A bold gambit

I saw this headline and it got me thinking:
Sixers willing to trade 2nd pick with Brand

We feel fairly certain that Joe will never get the team over the hump. Would Brand's bad contract (3yrs/51M) be worth Evan Turner in hopes that he can become a real max superstar down the road?

We could do the trade one of two ways:
A handshake deal until July and then we renounce Joe and Childress
Brand and Turner
for
Mike Bibby (renouncing should give us cap space to absorb the deal, but it might take some filler to make it work.

or we could do this on draft night:
Brand and 2nd pick (Evan Turner)
for
Crawford (expiring) and Bibby
In this case we'd still have the rights to Joe and Chill for S&T situations because I can't really see paying the freight unless we want to try a Turner/Johnson back court.

The new lineup would be:
Teague
Turner
Marvin
Josh
Al
with Elton in the big man rotation.

My logic is that while Elton has a bad contract it is only 3 years. The year it expires we might be able to use it augment the team to make a run then when hopefully the new lineup is peaking. I know it is a risk, but it could have a big payoff. What I don't know is if it is worth it?

There's always one dumb rumor that never happens in the days following the lottery. Philly would shop Igoudala around to a team with caproom for months before they even considered doing this trade.

I would do this trade in a heartbeat. It's not that different from my Joe trade.

I think the worst thing about rumors like this is that every fanbase will proposed extremely lopsided trades.

why would the sixers do that? They get nothing in return for the 2nd pick. I don't think getting rid of Brand's contract is worth the 2nd pick in Turner who could be a potential all star for years to come.

Chad Ford does a good job with the draft, but he's probably the most inaccurate "insider" on ESPN when it comes to trades and free agency.

One-sided? Well yes, it's just a straight salary dump of a bad contract. Like tying a pork chop to an ugly kid so the dog will play with him, you have to tie something attractive to a really bad contract to move it. Personally I think it is too high of premium to get rid of the contract, but different people have different opinions. I wanted to gauge how much a really bad contract scares people off.
