Re: Operation ET: Prospect Thread II
So what is the best comp for Cousins? I'm not sure I've liked some I've heard....don't see him as a Jefferson- or Bynum-type. My first thought was Horford.

He's more skilled offensively than Horford, but probably not as athletic or defensively talented. Isn't Cousins bigger/longer than Horford as well?

Daniel Orton apparently threw DeMarcus Cousins underneath the bus. Called him "a big child," said he needed to pull him away from a fight.

Here's another one:
Wall sticking up for Cousins big time. Says he's a hard worker, coachable. "Everyone goes through stages, even I had a bad attitude in past"
By the sounds of it, Wall is going to completely run away with the 1st pick. Apparently he's been giving really good interviews.

Re: Operation ET: Prospect Thread II
interviews should have no basis on the top 4 imo, if you're making decisions based on interviews where the player has been coached by his agent, you probably suck as a GM

Dude seems relatively well-spoken on top of being a good prospect. Really hope he doesn't get hyped to the point where he's in that 6-10 range, that could be bad for him.

I hope he doesn't get hyped so he gets picked that high either. It will make it easier to draft him.

Him or Henry would be fine. Someone that can shoot and has some sort of intelligence would be enough.

Man I was just thinking, what a relief that we finally have a year where the players' heights aren't an issue. The past few years we've had Foye, Mayo, Beasley, Love, Griffin, Flynn, Curry and even Rubio had their lack of size questioned. This year? The top four all have prototypical size in shoes. Even Paul George is almost 6' 9''...he'd look good at #16 but he probably just bought himself a ticket in the lottery.
MilBucksBackOnTop06 wrote:I am envious of your team. Apologize to GM Kahn for me. Just an excellent securing of assets albeit in a round about way.
His method was goofy and quirky at first, wasting picks on all those PG's but in the end he seems to have gotten it done.

I am becoming a fan of George with that Char pick. We do like drafting pg's. hehe.
If the draft works out at basic level, in 2 years we could have a
7'0
6'11
6'9
6'9
6'4
with Darko/cousins/george/brewer/rubio

It will be almost impossible for the Wolves to not get bigger and more athletic in this draft. That's partly a testament to how undersized and unathletic the Wolves are now, but this is a great draft for big wings and big men.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

Re: Operation DMC: Prospect Thread II
Not sure where to put this:
http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_15148538
Kahn and Wolves coach Kurt Rambis have identified an athletic small forward/shooting guard as a key offseason priority for the club, and Johnson, a first-team All-American last season, appears to fill that role. ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale called Johnson the best small forward in the draft.
"Johnson would be a solid pick for Minnesota," Vitale said. "He's got the athleticism, quickness and explosiveness you want in a player at his position."
An interesting decision faces the Wolves if they stay at No. 4 and New Jersey passes on Cousins, regarded as the best big man in the draft. The question remains whether the 6-foot-11, 292-pound Cousins is a true center or power forward. Vitale and fellow ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas believe Cousins, who left Kentucky after his freshman year, can play center in the NBA.
"He's not a super athlete, but he's got good footwork and he can command a double team," Bilas said of Cousins. "He's got long arms, and he's a load under the basket. He'll bring a team's rebound percentage up."

Re: Operation DMC: Prospect Thread II
We better take Cousins at 4, we can address the athletic sg/sf problem with #16 with George(or move up if his stock rises). A draft with Cousins and George would be perfect.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
