They may give him a contract that averages at 11 instead of 12....

He was worth 9 million at best when they gave him his current contract. It's clear he's overpaid, not much point in arguing it.

Re: MN / Det / Philly blockbuster-ish
No matter what you think of Gordons contract, Dumars gave him what he thought he deserved. He thinks highly of BG, who performed like an All-Star before getting injured last year. The Pistons are not looking to "get rid" of him.
I have no problem with a trade of this nature, but when you include Gordon in it, it's going to get shot down.

Dumars gave Rip Hamilton his deal as well; I'm assuming he thought he was worth it, despite nobody else in the world agreeing.
Are you telling me you wouldn't want to get rid of his contract either?

I don't think Maxiell kills us as a short PF off the bench, since we shed a lot of salary next year. I'd look at packaging Maxiell with Flynn and #16 to Indiana for #10 and TJ Ford's expiring.
I dont see Detroit having any interest in this. If MN isnt willing to take on Brand for #2, why do you think Pistons would do it for the #4
I agree that there's no doubt that Brand has negative value wherever he goes. However, I think he would have less negative value with the pistons, who have a need for a low post scorer and can give him some minutes. The question would be whether moving up from 4 to 7 .. which is a pretty big gap .. would make that worthwhile.

Ya, that trade is pretty bad for Detroit. What would switching the #7 pick to a protected future first rounder do? Would something like a top 10 protection do the job? I don't think Philly wants a future 1st though...

Simplify, Man!
Min in: #2, Brand
Min out: Jefferson (plus #23 or Gomes?)
Det in: Jefferson (plus #23 or Gomes?)
Det out: #7, Prince
Phi in: Prince, #7
Phi out: Brand, #2
Why for Minnesota? Get a stud wing in Turner, clear out a body at the #4. Utilize their cap room to pick up a potential star in Turner. Really, this is the best case scenario to use our cap room to get a potential game-changer. Draft Cousins at 4 to balance out the roster quite nicely. Anything Brand can add to our team is the cherry on top.
Why for Detroit? Jefferson for Prince + 7 has gotten some positive traction on the board. I wouldn't mind throwing in something extra to make it more appealing (#23, Gomes). They get a solid offensive threat that will probably be better next year and fit their offense (plus 23 or Gomes' cap relief) for an expiring and a mid-lottery pick.
Why for Philly? Shed themselves of Brand's albatross contract and add a sizable expiring deal while only dropping 5 spots? Where do I sign up? The only way they don't do this is if they are completely sold on Turner as a star player. That is the $40 mil question to them.

His method was goofy and quirky at first, wasting picks on all those PG's but in the end he seems to have gotten it done.

^^Looks great to me. That solves the whole Detroit dilemma as they'd definitely do that deal. I don't know what Philly fans would think about their end of the trade but the FO should be all for it. Get rid of Brand and Prince is an exp contract for a team that's in dire financial trouble.

Here's what I would offer Philly:
Min in: #2, Dalembert, Prince
Min out: Jefferson, #4
Det in: Jefferson
Det out: #7, Prince
Phi in: #4, #7
Phi out: Dalembert, #2
We use cap space to take Dally for one year. Philly gets a younger, better frontcourt in Cousins and #7 (Monroe/Aminu/Udoh/?) plus save approx. $11 million this year.

Nice deal. I know the Pistons should go for it, and I think I do it. Who knows what Philly would do...I expect that the fans might bitch about it, but they don't seem to think about salary impact much, since the lottery.
I think we might also be able to immediately move Prince + 23 to the Hornets (if we take back a contract), Memphis, Toronto, or Houston for one of the late lottery picks so we could get Paul George.

I like it too, but positionally it'd still screw up Philly; they'd end up w/ some combo of bigmen and/or SFs, and they already have Speights/Young/Brand/AI2. Too bad there's not decent SGs in the top 10
