My thinking is that we will end up getting Cousins at #4.
-If Johnson and Aminu go #5 and #6 and we cannot move Jefferson to Sacramento or GS and acquire one of those picks. Then could we arrange to have a trade completed on July 1st with a sign and traded Pekovic for 1st rounder (10-15, maybe land Henry, George, Anderson, or the non-big that we want after Johnson/Aminu) + an expiring (to keep teams from acquiring to much luxury tax salary)
Sign and Traded Pekovic to Indiana for Foster and #10
Sign and Traded Pekovic to NOH for MoPete and #11
Are those fair market value for Pekovic? Or am I over/under rating his value?

I think he's worth a pick in the 10-20 range. I would love to acquire Paul George somehow, and I fear he might be gone by 16. If we could swap Pek for him, I'd be happy with that.

Re: Possible Pekovic Trade idea
Seems like Pekovic would be a nice cheap Boozer replacement for Utah, ready to play now, can run the pick and roll ...
I'm thinking something like #9 for rights to Pekovic + #23 or ... #9 + ??? for Pekovic + Gomes

If he has that value, why don't the just trade him on draft night? They don't need to S&T the guy.

Re: Possible Pekovic Trade idea
Excellent idea for a thread skorff, because I think its clear listening to David Kahn, that Pekovic could be traded:
This is from an email to season ticket-holders:
... and this is from his interview with the Star Tribune:
The fact that they mention trade right out of the box with Pekovic, even without a deal in place, leads me to believe that is the favored option.

David Kahn wrote: Meanwhile, Kahn also met with the agent for Nikola Pekovic, and said the 6-foot-11 Montenegrin center “wants to come over.”
“We are not anywhere close to a deal. The next step is, I want to take Kurt (coach Kurt Rambis) to take a look at him, and in June, we need to plug him into our plans and figure out if his future is with us, or is it to wait a little longer, or is his future for us to trade,” Kahn said. Pekovic is a good low-post scorer who can play with his back to the basket, Kahn said.

BTW, Once Bosh is gone, I think he'd fit well in the low post in TOR, while Bargnani flits around everywhere else.

I was thinking Utah might want to keep Boozer and pair Pekovic with Boozer (but I didn't really see someone there to match salaries and if Utah's keeping Boozer then they wouldn't be able to afford Pekovic)
But it does make sense to trade as a Boozer replacement. A frontcourt of Okur at center with Millsap at PF and Pekovic backing up the PF and C spots would be pretty good as well.

That's what I was thinking too, I think Indiana and NOH would both have to consider the trades that I posted for Pekovic. Then we could target Henry or George there.

Re: Possible Pekovic Trade idea
I think we might be overvaluing Pek. It's difficult to judge where he would've went if we didn't snag him 2nd round. Teams typically fall in love with their draft slot and want the best value there. If a team really needs a back to the basket big without one available, maybe they trade for Pek, but I don't think they give up multiple assets. It would most likely be Pek for the pick.
Furthermore, I think Pek's price goes up AFTER the big name bigs are off the table. Some team might rather have a guy like Pek on the cheap instead of offering David Lee a monster deal. After the FA dust has settled, we might get more value in return (although it wouldn't be a rookie).
What teams could use Pek?
I think CHI could if they weren't in "contend now" mode
DET?
TOR?
MIA?
WASH?
NJ?
INDY?
OKC?

Re: Possible Pekovic Trade idea
I think he'd be the perfect big for a contending team that wants to add someone that's young, cheap and talented but wouldn't take as long to adjust to the NBA game.
For the record I want him in a Wolves uniform, even with Cousins. I'm thinking that the ability to put out a number of tough back to the basket defenders is the only way to a championship in the next few years, especially if you have to go through the Howards and Bynums.
