Colors and Nickname
I don't know if there is already a thread for this topic, if there isn't we can use this. I found the headline on the ticker to be a good sign, looks like Leonsis will seriously consider some changes to both the colors and nickname.

I was pretty excited until....
He added that even if he wanted to, it would be impossible to make any changes for next season.

Shoot even if it takes a year or two, I'm patient enough to pull threw.

Re: Colors and Nickname
Hope we go back to Bullets and the red/white/blue. We had the best name and color scheme in the NBA......now we're close to the worst on both counts.

Re: Colors and Nickname
The color scheme isn't terrible, it isn't great in the same breath. But the name sounds like an MLS or WNBA team. I'd settle for new colors, or atleast back to the red, white, and blue, this being the nations capital.

Re: Colors and Nickname
The problem is that there needs to be consistency with name and color scheme. Red, white and blue certainly signifies all things Washington, but it has nothing to do with a Wizard. Unless this happened to be one patriotic Wizard.

Re: Colors and Nickname
I hope a change in colors is accompanied by a return to the Bullets. I know the Gilbert thing is fresh, but the bigger issue was the crime here. That isn't as big a problem/

Honestly, the early 90s uniforms were sweet. I loved the simplicity of the red and whites.

Re: Colors and Nickname
I found the Googs-era Bullets jerseys to be way too plain. I didn't like the "updated" Bullets word mark, either.
Everyone likes red/white/blue now, but it has to be done right. Do folks want to go back to the candy apple/royal combo we had in the 90s? Or, do we want a crimson/navy combo, similar to Team USA? The Hawks use navy with a bright red; I prefer Team USA's darker palette, but that's me.
Also, I don't think the colors need to correspond to the team nickname. Few team colors do, frankly; only the Celtics, Sixers, Heat, and Suns come to mind.

Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

I honestly like ALL of our throwbacks we've worn over the past several years. These, the red/white/blue stripes, the Zephyrs. You could make any of them our new colors/uniforms/logo and I'd be happy.

Re: Colors and Nickname
A few teams have changed their logo for next season, some of them such as Phoenix going with their secondary logo as their new primary.
I'd be happy if the uni's had a colour change, and we started using the dc secondary logo as our primary, with some changes to its colouring to match, as well as some lettering above and/or below it in a circular fashion.
The W wizard guy swooshy writing really sucks. The dc logo is simple, and i think its really cool and would make a good basis for a new logo in what will be a new and exciting era.
Edit: from that article though, it sounds like Ted wants to go back to the Washington Bullets, i doubt he would mention a change of nickname if he just wanted a new coat of paint. Even 2 years down the line, we would still hear one-liners from NBA media people about the guns incident and changing back to the Bullets.
Double edit: Oh, he was actually asked directly about the colours and nickname. But still, he did say he preferred the red colour scheme.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Re: Colors and Nickname
I'd be happy to see the Bullets share the W logo that the Caps use...that is a SWEET logo.
I trust Teddy-B to do it the right way. The man has the Midas Touch.

I think you should become the Washington Patriots.
Do a logo something like this:

I'm 100% on board with these uni's until we can get replacements. They do somewhat remind me of the Jazz jerseys though.
PS have we ever worn these in a game?
