Cousins isn't going to be able to play 82 games. He's not playing a 40 games against college boys anymore. He needs to stay in peak physical condition. There's a difference between being 300 lbs at 16.4% bodyfat and being 300 lbs at 12% or less. He will be playing 30+ minutes a game not 17 minutes like Big Baby.
By the end of the season, he will have at least one serious injury that will cause him to miss several games. He is Greg Oden with more offense and more injuries. Bust.
Hard work beats talent, when talent fails to work hard. Lottery history is littered with picks that failed to deliver. There have been many lottery picks with amazing talent, but failed to do anything with the talent, after college.
Sweetney was about 6'8 with a 7' wingspan. Cousins is about 6'11 with a 7'4 wingspan. Even fat, that size with those skills is a very potent combination.
The Oden comparison makes no sense. Oden's injuries have nothing to do with weight or work ethic. When Oden is healthy, he's one of the most dominant defensive presences n the game.
Eddy Curry is the more legitimate downside, but that's not all that probable. Curry's always been a poor rebounder and defender. Cousins is a monster rebounder and an excellent shot-intimidator.
