Epke Udoh measured almost 6'9" in socks, almost 6'10" in shoes, wingspan of almost 7'5"; weight 237.
Long, athletic, plays D, blocks shots; not soft and has a little bit of an offense to go with it. Scouting report on him seems to be honest and mostly complies with what I watched of him. I'm sure this guy is high on Jazz draftboard and I'd be content if the Jazz grab him.

He won't be another Ostertag, that's a sure thing; he's got basketball skills Ostertag never had, and he will harshly go at any dude that try to play games with him.
For some reason I think of Aldrich as kind of a little bit less agile but smarter Biedrins. By all reports he's high in Utah list. That said, I think Aldrich is kind of WYSIWYG; he's got probably the lower ceiling of all lottery bound big men... (for goodness sake... Jazz already got 3 white centers... a fourth would be kind of an institutional policy

Then again... this is the draft.... you never know the future of draftees....

Not being pessimistic, but why trade up unless you are certain that both Monroe and Udoh will be gone by number nine. I'd say it's 50-50 that one of those two will still be available.
Monroe= very good draft for Jazz Udoh= good draft for Jazz
Forget all the others.

Re: Trading up
I would, without a doubt, part with any one of our guys other than Deron, as well as our pick, to move into the top 3. If we can somehow land Turner, Johnson, or even Favors then I definitely do it. If we pair that player with Deron, and build around those two, thats a possible dynasty in a few years. I'm shocked at what some of you are unwilling to part with to try and get that.

Re: Trading up
In the vast majority of cases, the team trading DOWN in the draft has gotten screwed. Our own team is exhibit A for why this is the case. In the NFL, trading down is the better option. In the NBA, trading up is almost always the better option. To think that we might trade up THREE SEPARATE TIMES in one draft? Insane.
No, really the only way, in my mind, that we can move up like we need to do is if a team will play ball on a Millsap or Boozer deal. The Booz deal would be nearly impossible to work. The Millsap deal would be a tough sell. Aside from that, the only thing the Jazz could do would be offering major cap relief to a team with a horrible contract they're trying to get off the books. Philly and Brand are a great example. I'm positive that they would do a Brand + #2 for AK + #9. They get better for next year with the AK>Brand deal, clean up their balance sheet and still get a top prospect to groom. I'm pretty sure management would do that deal, on Philly's side. The Jazz? Well, not so much. Its something that a guy like Mark Cuban or Paul Allen would greenlight. Probably not something that Greg Miller would.
No, if we move up, its going to be 2 or 3 spots in order to get Aldrich or (if his stock soars in the coming weeks) Monroe. I don't think we are able to get up in the top 3 or 4. Though, to be honest, we would be crazy not to do anything aside from trading Deron to make that happen. Still, you have to find a team willing to play ball, and I don't see many takers.

Re: Trading up
Assuming Philly and the Utah DID work out a deal that sent AK + 9 to the Sixers in exchange for Brand + 2, would that team be able to compete at a high level next season? I assume having Brand would mean Boozer is gone. Okur is questionable to be back by the start of next season as well. Although the prospect of having Turner intrigues me, I don't know if he's worth taking on Brand's contract.
Deron/Price
Turner/Matthews
CJ/Turner
Brand/Millsap
Fesenko/KK
I feel like we would actually be worse off than we are now with this lineup. Our offense is built around the PG and PF positions. I think we'd be battling for the 8th seed in the west. Turner isn't going to get us any closer to beating the Lakers. We need a center...badly

Re: Trading up
I would consider Prince, #7 for Okur, Miles, Koufus, #9
Aldrich/Milsap/Prince/Mathews/Deron with AK4 as your 6th man
Okur/Udoh/Miles/Rip/Stuckey with Gordon as 6th man
Aldrich/Milsap/Prince/Mathews/Deron with AK4 as your 6th man
Okur/Udoh/Miles/Rip/Stuckey with Gordon as 6th man

I wouldn't pay the Clippers to move up one spot. If anything I would have them take the guy we want, and us the guy they want. After that, trade players. They will already save money on the pay scale.
I just got that is a string of three trades contigent on the one before it happening. There is no way that all those go down.
