It was fun Dex. Hard cap works too, we just have to figure out a way to account for guys that have opted out of their salary next year or will be fas this summer. I suggest giving them the salary hoopshype lists for the current season because otherwise it's too subjective (exs: my Dwyane Wade addition, half of Swedd's team), but it's your game, I'll follow your directions.

2.You may have only 2 guys under the rookie contract and no rules against it

I still don't see where I made an infraction. He said try not to, and I did until I realized my team would look like everybody elses. Either LeBron with Dwight/Bosh or Kobe with the same. Boring. It was more of a challenge to build a championship caliber team with no max guys.

I definitely had fun doing it though and I think maybe another rule should be one max guy only, though that might be too difficult for some members here who lack the creativity.

problem as i see it... after you remove players under rookie contracts and players who are FA this summer (and have no salary value for next season) you are left with only about a 3rd or the league, most of which have bloated salaries.

Thats part of what makes it so difficult. I mean the majority of the good centers in the league are on rookie contracts so you have to pick your poison on the two options. The wings who aren't rookies (like Peja) are making way too much money to make them viable options.

I guess it helps in the real world so people don't stack teams (at least under the cap) but it's a major inconvenience in our little scenario here.

problem can be solved by making a rule used for players who are FA this summer. use last year's salary as a guide?

You took the easy way out. You claim that my idea lacked creativity, but Dex and Fats liked it and no one had done it before. Instead of this totally unproductive, trite, boring back and forth, I challenge you to craft a team with LeBron, Bosh and Howard without duplicating any of my selections so we can compare.

I'm totally with Fats on how to handle the guys who are fas... it's what I did and I'm right around 65m depending on how much Lawal demands...

i'd like to use scola, but that seems too easy. he isnt really on a rookie contract. he signed a 3 year when he came over to the rockets. its not the typical rookie scale contact. and he is a FA who is about to get a big raise, me thinks. i'll leave him off. :(

I never said I didn't like your team. I do, however, don't think Dwight and LeBron fit very well together and would think you'd be better off with a guy like Bogut who still plays good D but doesn't have to clog the lane. Also, I think someone here said LeBron doesn't like Jennings, so as good as they'd be on paper, would they work in the real world? (That comment from whoever could be completely baseless, of course)

I challenge you to craft a team with LeBron, Bosh and Howard without duplicating any of my selections so we can compare.

I'd rather not. Again, If it were LeBron and Bosh then I think they'd have something going and I'd consider it. But adding Dwight is overkill. I'd think the harder challenge is using no max guys, but that's where we differ and I can understand your disagreement--oh well.

For fun (and a challenge) I made a team of nothing but Rookie Salary players. Suffice to say, this would be one hellll of a contender, all at only $38.1 million:

PG: Derrick Rose/Stephen Curry
SG: Eric Gordon/James Harden/Rodrigue Beaubois
SF: Kevin Durant/Terrence Williams
PF: Kevin Love/Anthony Randolph/Craig Brackins
C: Brook Lopez/Robin Lopez/Greg Monroe

Well, no one used no max guys, except for you, because you dropped Dirk's max contract status. I'll make a team with no max guys and still avoid Durant, Evans and Curry.

No max contracts, no Durant, Evans, Curry:
Sorry it took so long, I was trying to find someone to spend the final ~3m on, then decided I'd just pocket it and use it to pick up promising young dleaguers over the course of the season (e4Nf6 would advise me, we'd have a legit farm system like the Spurs)

Nash- 10,310,938
Manu-11,854,584
Ariza-6,322,320
Boozer-12,657,233
Horford-5,444,857=rookie contract
Westbrook 4,017,720=rookie contract
Carl Landry-3,000,000
Blatche-3,260,331
Morrow-1,029,389
Reggie Williams-762,195
Wesley Johnson,6th pick-2,474,4000
~1m or less to sign bpa guy that falls into the 2nd round

Fast paced, 7sol with 4 p&r options (Blatche and Landry get plenty of bench minutes so everyone is fresh). Ariza locks down the primary perimeter threat, Horford covers the post. Westbrook as super Barbosa. Almost took Rose, but figured someone would call shenanigans. Morrow, William, Johnson backup the wings.

move curry to starting sg and put gordon on the bench, behind harden. gordon is an empty stats guy. doesnt do anything to impact the game besides scoring. he is fools gold at this point in his career.
