45 million hardcap-really makes you think game

Post#1 » by Dexmor » Mon May 24, 2010 6:15 pm

O.K. your gonna think this is the same game but the 10 million dollars will make a big diiference.

Let's pretend there is a hard cap at 46 million dollars. 46 million dollars will make it real challenging. The team needs to be at very least a homecourt playoff team arguably.
Same rules as before, You can pick Durant and Evans and Curry as your rookies but they will count 6.5 million against the cap.
You also have only 2 million dollars to hire a coach so no LB no Phil probably not even Avery Johnson. Gotta be creative.
Rest of rules the same, 12-15 man roster can use Dleague and whatever other rules there was.
Try and make about half at least the team different then the players you used.

My coach would be either Vinny Del Negro (I picked Jax last time) Derek Harper if he would take the job, Kenny Smith would be a candidate. Del Harris would be a candidate. First choice proven Del Negro.
Style also uptempo offense so Kobe and Wallace get alota break points. In the halfcourt set Brook Lopez is the first option pounding inside and then Lopez. 3rd option Kobe and Sessions with Kobe as playmaker and Sessions more of a scorer. Wallace scores on fastbreak points and the way he always does.
I think team wins 3 rings with Lopez-Love-Wallace-Kobe-Sessions. Nice squad. Maybe better then my 65 million team.

Greg Monroe-I wanted a different rookie but I love this kid- 3 million
Eric Bledsoe-For 2nd round pick 384,000
Brook Lopez-2.5 million
Kevin Love 3 million about
Gerald Wallace-9 million (such a steal, should be on every team)
Kobe Bryant-24 million dollars
Ramon Sessions-3 million
Shawn Livingston-350,000-Gives alota depth at pg-sg-sf
Aaron Williams-1,000,000-Hed have to come out of retirement
Matt Barnes-1.6 million
Jerry Stackhouse 687,000
Anthony Parker-2,500,000
Powe-800,000

Dex, you're over the 46m hard cap by $5,821,000, but you said $10m, so maybe you meant to set the cap at 55m instead of 46?

Assuming this is a $55MM Cap

Coach: Scott Brooks

Starters ($37.3M)
Rajan Rondo -$9M
John Salmons -$5.8M
Gerald Wallace -$9.9M
Audrey Blatche -$3.3M
Kenrick Perkins -$4.4M

Bench ($17.2M)
Lamar Odom -$8.2M
Kyle Korver -$5.2M
Chris Anderson $3.9M
Aaron Brooks $2.0M - Rookie Contract 1 (is his still a rookie contract?)
Anthony Morrow $1.0M
Dejaun Blair - $0.9M - Rookie Contract 2
Dominique Jones -$0.9M - 2nd Round Pick

If Blatche doesn't have his head on straight, Odom or Blair can start. Could potentially drop Blatche all together for Scola/Landry type hustler. Love the bench. Top bench players... who would be willing to come off the bench. Team chemistry is important. Korver is the only player who I feel might be overpaid on this team. Weakness: Dominque Jones is the only combo guard on the roster. Also, I took the rookie contract thing a step further, and tried to avoid taking players who would be sure-fire starters (aka Rose/Lopez/Gordon/etc., on top of the three that were previously mentioned).

Is there a good place to go to see who is on a rookie contracts etc?

I was going to give this a go but I wasn't sure who was on rookie contracts or just cheap contracts?

Based on "You can pick Durant and Evans and Curry as your rookies but they will count 6.5 million against the cap":

Deron 14,940,152
Reke 6,500,000
Kid Durant 6,500,000 R
Millsap 6,200,000
Marc Gasol 3,480,000
Haywood 6,000,000
Lou Williams 5,445,000
Morrow 1,029,389
Craig Smith 2,500,000
Reggie Williams 762,195
Devin Ebanks-30th pick according to DX 824,200
Some 2nd rounder that accepts a deal less than Ebanks at 800,000 or less (to be fair to my first rounder)

Deron and Evans give me a huge back court. Durant does his thing off the dribble to get to the stripe, Millsap goes to work down low and Gasol is a nice compliment (48th pick in 07, signed a 3 year, 9.72m contract in July 08.) Haywood is a more than solid defensive center. Lou is instant offense off of the bench. Reggie and Morrow can stretch the floor, Cookie Monster gives me cheap backup 4 production. Ebanks and 2nd round commitment hopefully have potential.

I think I got this right, should be just under 55 mill.

C : Kendrick Perkins 4.5M, Chris Andersen 3.6M, Greg Monroe 3M
Pf: Andray Blatche 3M, K.Love 3.5 M
Sf: Durant 6.5 M, Matt Barnes 1.6M
Sg: Oj Mayo 4 M, Thabo Sefolosha 2.75 M
Pg: Paul 14M, Lou Williams 4.9M, Alexey Shved 384K

For a coach I will take that Thibodeau fella, I think he has a lot to do with how well Boston are playing. But really coaches really are a crap shoot when you are looking for someone unproven.
