Re: Colors and Nickname
Go a little lighter on the gray, then draft Evan Turner instead of Wall, and we would steal some Ohio fans for sure.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Those were an Adidas brand Gil jersey released at the same time as his shoe.

I could continue to live with the wizards name as long as we go back to some kind of red and blue set up

No way we go back to "Bullets". Not after Gil's locker room incident. It's too bad, too. I really liked the name.
I'd like to base the unis off the DC flag...

Roll with a red, white and black scheme and incorporate the stars and stripes.

Re: Colors and Nickname
How the bullets didn't morph into a patriotic mascot after the move from baltimore, it's a mystery. How we didn't switch to a patriotic mascot after Abe decided to nix the bullets name... that's downright baffling.
red/white/blue (probably darker pallates like what JWiz found since it's more modern looking, but i have no problems with primary red/white/blue either) is the obvious choice.
the mascot has more options, but i think still should be limited to patriotic terms. it just makes sense. senators, patriots, eagles, uncle sam, apple pie...
hahaha, what if it switched back and forth between a donkey and an elephant depending on who's president? what if an independent won? the washington ross perots for 4 years! hahahaha. i actually really like that idea...

I like a little stars and stripes (the DC flag is I believe adapted from the Washington family coat of arms), but it lacks the edge that Bullets had. Maybe they should come up with a new theme, a variation of Sea Dogs or River Rats, with a variation of your crossed swords icon. Dog/rat skull and crossbones or something.
D.C. Mad Dogs? "Dogs treat Cavs like hydrant." "Dogs unafraid of Thunder." "Mad Dogs eat Nuggets." "Dogs nip Wolves." "Dogs chase Cats." "Mad Dogs play dead through 3, bite back in 4th." Road trips could be "walking the Dogs." Post headline when they win the championship: "Mad Dogs Best In Show."
Yeah. I'm sure that's going to happen.
PS: Welcome to the board Duffy. Things are looking up.

Definitely my favorite of the old Bullets stuff. It's a rich & full orange thats' eye catching. It just flows perfectly with the black & white trim.
However, I think Leonsis will respect the wishes of the late Abe Pollin and not bring back the "Bullets". We may a new nickname, I've always liked Justice for some unknown reason.

Re: Colors and Nickname
One side note:
There are five teams in the NBA currently rocking the red/white/blue color scheme (with the blue = navy or royal):
- PHI (royal)
- NJN (navy)
- DET (royal)
- ATL (navy)
- LAC (royal)
That's four in the Eastern Conference, with one already in WAS's division. All five teams have a red jersey as either a primary or an alt.
In contrast, there are only three other teams in the NHL wearing red/white/blue besides the Caps:
- NYR
- CBJ
- MON
And, the Caps are the only team in the division with that color scheme.
As Ted thinks about switching the team's colors, he will also need to consider the extent to which a switch back to classic colors would dilute the team's brand and unique identity.
Now, I hate the primary logo as much as anyone else. But I don't think becoming the *sixth* team with the same basic color scheme is necessarily the best move, either. The Wizards should attempt to own a unique color scheme the way the Skins own burgundy n' gold. With a smart jersey redesign, the Wizards could own their current blue n' gold (I'd personally recommend that they de-emphasize the black). Here's an example of a mild refresh that would go a long way in making the current color scheme work a little better (courtesy of Chris Creamer's board):

I have waited 13 long years for this.
So who cares if it takes another 2-3 to 5 more years to make it happen.
I will still be here.
I aint going nowhere.

Read, white, and blue is my preference, but I'd be willing and open to other color schemes. Those Zephyr jerseys are easily one of my favorites, lets go back to the Zephyrs!

Re: Colors and Nickname
I'd be content with a change in unis and color scheme. I'm not wild about Wizards but it's a good way to honor our late owner.
That being said, I'm all for a switch to red, white and blue and like someone else mentioned in this thread, a changing of the wordmark on the uniform needs to happen as well. I always think it's lame when a team uses a wordmark completely different from the one they have on the logo. The Wiz should use the Wizards how it's written on the logo to be on the uniform as well. Maybe keep the logo but obviously change the color scheme to red, white and blue. Lots of teams keep their logo but change the colors in it. Milwaukee, Atlanta and Denver are all examples.

I like the current colors and nickname. The colors in particular are interesting, not the same ol' same ol' (e.g., red).
I am less fond of the logo. The basic idea is good, but the execution left something to be desired.

You mean like: NYK, CHI, BOS, PHI, IND, LAC, ORL, ATL, TOR, DAL, and PHX?
One out of three teams in the NBA use a different word mark for the jersey. It's not that bad a trend, is it?

Re: Colors and Nickname
I think the fact that you guys can throw around "wordmark" so easily is in itself quite troubling.
