Most underutilized wrestlers

Post#1 » by skbucks1985 » Sun May 23, 2010 4:02 pm

I think I complain a lot about guys who aren't used as well as I think they should be so I thought I'd put together a list of the top 5 underutilized guys in each company. I'll start with the B company TNA.

TNA: One thing, Jay Lethal would've been on this list for a long time but he's getting a mega-push right now so I can't complain about him.

5. MCMG: They would be higher on this list but there currently the #1 contenders for the tag titles. I don't expect them to win and then they'll toil in the mid-card for another 6 months but for now I guess I can't be too tough on them.

4. Sarita: I think with Tara gone, she is definitely the best performer in that division. Yet, I think she's been on the show once in like 3 months.

3. Brian Kendrick: If you're gonna have a heel X-Division Champ, why is it Doug Williams and not him?

2. Homicide: While I think he's one of the most talented guys on the roster, I sort of understand this. His persona had to be sanitized to be on television and he's lost a little bit because of it. If this guy was around during the attitude era I think he would've been huge.

1. Samoa Joe: He's probably going to start a feud with Matt Morgan which I think could be fine. Having said that, he's a main eventer and he should be right there at the top of the company with AJ, Angle and RVD. He's the most underutilized wrestler in TNA and its not even close.

WWE: Two guys who have been staples on this list, Carlito and Shelton Benjamin, have both been recently released.

5. John Morrison: More of something I anticipate happening than has actually happened. I think he's gonna get buried on Raw. Someone like R-Truth, he's not nearly as good as Morrison in the ring but he's more than good enough for Raw and he's significantly better on the mic. On Raw, he's gonna be the one getting the push. And he is.

4. Matt Hardy: The feud with his brother killed his career, simple as that. He had some unfortunate injuries that cut the MVP feud short, but he seemed to regain his momentum on ECW. Then they turned him heel and he's been primarily a jobber since.

3. Evan Bourne: I still think its hysterical that the only PPV match he had in his first 2 years in the company was a match voted on by fans. I feel like they should've seen that as something of a sign.

1b. MVP: I have no idea why this guy hasn't been in the main event picture since 2008. He really is the complete package.

1a. Christian: The only difference between him and MVP is that I know why he hasn't been in the main event picture, Vince isn't his biggest fan.

Watching "Last Call with Scott Hall" on youtube recently, Hall actually mentioned possibly bringing in a 4th member to The Band and mentioned that he thought Kendrick would be perfect. I was surprised to see he spoke so highly of him. Maybe they'll go that route soon.

WWE list

I agree with Christian, hopefully being he'll get his chance on Smackdown!

With Morrison and Bourne, those two are still young but its also hard to develop those stars when they are shoving Cena down our throats.

Maybe years back when he was fired and re-hired would I have said Matt Hardy could have done bigger things in the company. But right now they've made him look like crap too long to make him worth anything.

Morrison will get his time eventually, as much as The Miz has grown on me...I still think Morrison should have gotten that push.

TNA list

I think the MCMG will get those belts over Hall and Nash. I agree that they are underutilized, but i heard they had backstage issues before thats why there push or lack there of stopped.

Sarita is a great ring performer and deserves a push. I think thats TNA's problem right now or one of there problems is that they need to establish a good Knockouts division and run with it. They pretty much just let there last two strong females (Tara and Kong) walk away with issues that could of been solved one way or another

I like Kendrick, I would of suggested brining in London to reform the tag team. But they already have two similiar tag teams in TNA with MCMG and Generation Me. For guys like Kendrick and Homicide, TNA would work really well with either another show or another hour on Impact to showcase these guys more.

Joe will get his shot again I think, but it seems like Hogan and Bishoff are too focused on the new guys like RVD, Hardy and Mr Anderson and leaving guys like Joe behind. Not saying that those guys mentioned don't deserve the spotlight, but leaving Joe of TV and having nothing for him is BS.

I came here to suggest Bourne. He always has the most exciting match on the weekly cards, almost without fail and he gets great a great reaction during matches. I'd like to see Danielson win the US title and have him turn heel and feud with Bourne.

I'm not as in love with Samoa Joe as most TNA fans are but I will say that if Hogan & Bischoff would've put Joe in the storyline/push that they gave Abyss, I would've been much more a fan of that whole angle, aside from the HoF ring giving him supernatural powers of course. That part of the angle was just completely stupid.

^^^ I don't think that storyline would've worked for Joe, Joe's the bad ass whose gonna kill you. There's a reason why they chant "Joe's gonna kill you." To have him fawning over somebody even if it is Hulk Hogan, would've been out of charachter for him.

Cape, with Morrison like I said its not so much what's happened to him but what I anticipate happening to him. I thought he should've won MITB but overall I thought he was used pretty well on Smackdown. I just don't see how he doesn't get buried on Raw.

MORRISON. MORRISON. MORRISON.

I love this kid, and it pains me to see that Miz got the push. If someone could explain to me why miz got the push I'd love to know.

Bourne, Shelton, and MVP, all agree.

Carlito was released?

I wasn't saying necessarily the exact same storyline, but more so saying to have Hogan place the label on him as the guy to carry the torch would've been much easier to stomach, and would've made A LOT more sense. He's better in the ring, he's better on the mic, fans love him more, he's just better all around than Abyss.

I see what you're saying. As far as Abyss, there's about a dozen guys who should've been given that spot instead of Abyss, so I'm not gonna argue with you about that.

Celtic, I think Miz deserved the push he got and Morrison deserves a similar push. Having said that, if you gave me the choice I'd pick Miz. I think he is the more complete performer. He's probably the second best talker in the company behind Jericho and I think he's improved more in the ring than Morrison has on the mic

The only real reason I can see Miz getting that push is because he gets better and better on the mic. But Morrison really hasn't gotten the opportunity like the Miz has to express himself on the mic either.

I have to say though, Miz looks awful on the mic when placed next to Jericho.

I think anyone can see The Miz is and will always be the better talker of the two. When they were a tag team Miz was always the better talker of the two. Miz could end up being one of the truly great talkers in the company, Morrison could end up being good but he's never going to be truly great in that area.

The whole business is a huge step down from Jericho.

I think she's going to get her opportunity with that mystery tag team and diva showing up on raw and attacking the hart dynasty.

The mystery team is Jimmy and Jules Uso the sons of Rikisi and the girl is Superfly Snuka's daughter.

Rikishi?? Jeez, dude must have had these kids when he was 18.

That's awesome though. They should have not broken up dibiase and rhodes and have a whole generation angle.

Cliff Levingston's list for the WWE only. TNA is so hilariously bad, it's not even worth commenting on. The little that Cliff Levingston has watched lately, there's no doubt that the MCMG's are underutilized, as are both Samoe Joe and Matt Morgan. The problem with them though is that they have almost as many employed wrestlers as the WWE but only 2 hours per week to showcase them (opposed to 5 for the WWE). Guys are going to get left out.

5. Evan Bourne. The WWE has never used high flyers to their potential, which is why he's so low on the list. Mysterio is the only one they've used well, only because Mysterio is the best high flyer in the history of the business by a sizable margin. Bourne could have a nice mid-card run but Cliff Levingston doesn't see him even doing more than that. Move him to Smackdown.

4. MVP. He's never really gotten fully over as a face since his turn forever ago. A few years back, he appeared to be on the fast track to main event status (along with Kennedy) with a pretty cool "diva-athlete" type of gimmick. The face turn was very forced and MVP has to pander to the crowd like wild in order to get any reaction. Turn him heel again and let him do what he does best.

3. Christian. Losing to Kofi for the IC title? It could be a good thing as Christian belongs in the main event (or close to it) as evidenced by his spectacular match against Edge on last week's Raw. There's few better than Christian on the mic as well.

2. Dolph Ziggler. Cliff Levingston has been a fan since day 1, and it's hard to pick out any dud matches involving him when he wasn't in the ring with a total slug. He's pretty unique and an extremely hard worker in the ring. He belongs at the top of the mid-card right now with low main event potential. To be middling on the lower mid-card is criminally stupid, ICLO.

1. John Morrison. This guy is the next Shawn Michaels (perhaps HBK lite). He never puts on a bad match and does some crazy stuff in the ring. On top of that, he's got a sh*t ton of charisma and can be very good on the mic as evidenced by his Miz/Morrison days. This guy should've never been moved over to Raw so he could be right in the main event with Swagger.
