Who to target with the MLE?
How about JJ REDICK?
The soon-to-be restricted free agent had a solid season, appearing in all 82 games and averaging 9.6 points per contest while shooting better than 40% from the field and from behind the three-point arch. He also showed a knack for getting to the free throw line, always a specialty of his at Duke, and shot a very typical 86%. That experience has proven to be invaluable in the playoffs, and especially in the Eastern Conference Finals, where Redick has proven to be a big-time player, even when his teammates aren't tuned in. Redick alone has increased his averages across the board for the third round, recording 11.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 45% from the field and 54% from three - this against a Boston team that has been able to limit everyone else's long-range effectiveness. Redick has continued to step up, even when his teammates appeared to have checked out.
More and more we're seeing Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy go to Redick during crunch time, not only for his scoring ability, but also for his toughness, his defense, and his energy. Simply put, Redick comes ready to play, and at times his teammates have struggled to meet his intensity level. It seems Van Gundy decided to play Redick more this season to help the organization make a decision on him this summer, and Redick has answered the call.

Kevin Martin SG
Chase Budinger SG/SF
Trevor Ariza SF/SG
Kyle Lowry PG/SG
Jermaine Taylor SG
Kevin Martin alone is going to take most of the minutes at the SG position. Do you want to spent 6 million per year on the 11th man?

We are set at the 1/2/3.
If we're going to use the MLE, it MUST be on a big.

Ariza and Budinger can stick to SF and Lowry to PG.
I'd like someone who can come off the bench and do a lot of what Martin does and be a defensive stopper. On top of that getting the 10 or so starts in games Martin will miss.
Would rather use the draft pick at 14 on a center. There's more depth in this draft of big men. And Udoh, Whiteside, etc. are projected to fall to us in some mocks.

Where does Battier play? You realize there are only 48 minutes at either the SG SF position.
Budinger
Martin
Battier
Ariza
and Lowry
will all see some time at the SG position.

Me too. But i don't think Kobe Bryant is available.
Edit: I hope when you said defensive stopper, you don't mean JJ freaking Reddick. Anyone who believes Reddick is a stopper is a sucker.

to be real, whichever team gives players like reddick the mle lost. orlando lost when they gave gortat 6mil per (unless he plays 20mpg next year), cavs lost when they gave flop 10milper. if reddick gets the mle, that team lost.
we won when we gave ariza the mle

etan thomas is a 3rd stringer btw, hope u werent serious w/ that

LOL JJ redick a defensive stopper. Ok fine Ryan bowen is a defensive stopper too. Chase Budinger is more athletic than redick and can also shoot well. Kurt thomas and ben walllace is worth vets minimum, not MLE

Re: Who to target with the MLE?
Some Rocket fans on this forum used to think Von Wafer was a stopper.
I don't care what anybody says. You'll never convinced me that an unathletic 6'4 3 point specialist with alligator arm is a defensive stopper.

I was trying my best to be politically correct Max. What i really meant was... You'll never convinced me that an undersized white guard is a defensive stopper.
Unathletic and 3 point specialist didn't give it away?

Re: Who to target with the MLE?
bruce bowen is 3pts specialist (his 3p% is higher than his ft% in one season)
how about half white? shane battier
come one steve kerr was bulls best pick and roll defensive player (better than jordan, pippen, rodman, harper)

Re: Who to target with the MLE?
Bruce Bowen has long arms. He's 6'7. He doesnt have alligator arms dude. He's quicker on his feet than redick is and he is basically glues to the opponent, that was why he was a good defender.

Re: Who to target with the MLE?
Regardless we won't waste the MLE in a position where Chase Budinger, Kevin Martin is in. Both are very good shooters and need alot of minutes. Chase is an exceptional defender too and he is more ATHLETIC.
