My ideal draft. (with things as they are)

Post#1 » by minnisisky » Wed May 26, 2010 5:08 am

this is assuming that we dont trade up for a Turner/Wall option. because you know what they say about assuming.. but i think,

#4: Wes Johnson, He is a perfect fit into what we need, he is a heck of an athlete and jFlynn likes him.

#16: Hassan Whiteside, if he drops to there, if not i think James Anderson would be a good fit.

#23: depending on the prior picks, Devin Ebanks or Salomon Alabi are both pretty solid with that pick.

Other notable players: Jordan Crawford, tremendous athlete and he has shown great potential, i just dont know if we have the right picks to land him. also Sherron Collins and Denis Clemente may be there with our last pick. both shown good attributes and Clemente rocked my Cougars in March Madness. I think all three of them have shown great pro potential.

But i still think that Evan Turner may be the guy who we can put our team on and start turning around. He is such an all-around player and he plays the 2 positions that we are lacking in.

I don't like taking Wes over Cousins. I think you have to draft Cuz even if you're going to trade him. His value is too high compared to Wes, who is nice but has considerably lower upside.

Sticking with Cousins just because I want to increase our chances in a Wesley Johnson trade.

I really like the prospects who will be found in the middle of the draft. A lot of people want to move up for a late lottery pick, but I'm happy with what we got. There are a ton of small forwards and centers with very high ceilings there.

I'm really tired, so I may wonder why I wrote this post when I wake up, but I think we should just draft Seraphin with the #23 pick and stash him for one year.

And Whiteside's character red flags make Cousins look like David Robinson.

If we are gonna draft DMC i would say we need to get rid of Love or Jefferson for a SG/SF because DMC, Jefferson, and Love pretty much play the same positions. and we already struggled enough with rotating 2 at that position. let alone 3. but i could see us getting a pretty solid SG/SF for Jefferson.

Cousins is a CENTRE, he doesn't play the same position as Jefferson or Love. I don't know why I have to keep saying that.

I think 23 and 16 are used to move up in the draft, maybe with New Orleans or Indiana who'd like to add some more depth from a deep draft. Then the team would look for their athletic wing player, which would likely be George.

Draft Cousins with the 4th pick and with the #16 one of George/Henry/Anderson (in that order) preferably trade up for George. That's the ideal draft if we can't move up for Turner.

you could probably throw Babbitt into that grouping as well. I like him more and more with each passing day.

I agree with you on taking Wes Johnson at 4

Whiteside will not fall to #16 but im not that interested in him anyway

Yeah, probably but my prefered choices are still George/Henry. I'm not so fond about Anderson/Babbitt yet, the others intrigue me more. Babbitt also seems like a tweener. He's not the pure wing I want.

i would love this move. we need players who can shoot as long as we have Jefferson. this guy can hit from prettymuch anywhere inside half court, just what the doctor ordered.

I think we need to get players that can shoot period. Cousins, Jefferson or neither the lack of 3pt shooting on this team is pathetic.

For some reason I'm hoping the team comes out of the draft with 3 1st round picks, but I'm doubting it actually happens. I guess there's always the hope Rambis falls in love with 3-4 guys and Kahn goes the length to get the guys he wants.

For example, a Cousins, Henry, White, Garcia draft would be fairly awesome, stacked with players that have skill sets that fit, overall talent, defensive energy, etc.

somehow getting JJ Redick is my dream. Guy reminds me of Hoiberg, he's not fast, he's not strong, he's not even that athletic, but he can shoot, he's smart, and knows his limitations, just gets it done. I feel Babbitt is in that same mold, only he's and didn't come from such a high profile school.

He measures as having longer wingspan and standing reach than Dwight Howard, Brook Lopez, and Greg Oden. He's 6'11'' in shoes, which is how the game is played. He can play center.

His exact measurements were 6' 9.5" and with shoes 6' 10.75". Center size.

Sorry, buddy. You'll just have to be more generous when it comes to "other activities".
