Has the recent fame of the Suns bench helped Kerr's image?

Maybe this is old news but I sorely remember there used to being lots of topics about how Kerr is one of the worst gms even after he acquired/re-hired Alvin Gentry.

Even mid-way in the season, and I'm sorry I'm not a regular Suns board visitor so I don't know if there's been a change, many have wanted Nash and Amare out and I don't mean in a losing them to a free agency way.

I could see not trading Amare as somewhat of an easier decision to make but I'm curious what anyone thinks about the way the bench roster has been set up? I think in this aspect Kerr has out-GMed even Boston despite the star power acquisition of Rasheed and Nate as far as the bench roster goes.

I apologize if I come off as a Kerr apologist. I'm just legitimately curious what fans now think of him.

Not only with the bench, but also with the firing of Porter and putting Alvin in charge.

I think every Suns fan face-palmed themselves when Amare fouled him on that 3 point attempt, haha.

Anyways, I do believe Kerr has redeemed himself in the eyes of most Phoenix fans. It took guts to admit that the team didn't do well with Shaq and it was his mistake. He also admits Porter was just a bad fit for the Suns as well.

However, what has always stood out to me the most is that trade of Boris and Raja for Dudley and Richardson. He took a lot of heat from Suns fans for trading away two players who had been fan favorites...okay, not so much Boris, but Raja was loved here.

Now, it looks like we made out like bandits in that trade as Richardson has carried us in some games in these playoffs and Dudley has been a huge part of our bench and defensive adjustments.

I'm one of those who jumped right on the "Fire Kerr" bandwagon a few years back, I gladly will eat my crow.

he said it from the beginning it will take time for these guys to develop. its hard to find a true franchise player.

Hahaha. I remember that! I was following the Play-by-Play at school. When it same up, "Geoge Hill 3pt shot made.. and.. Stoudemire Foul (Shooting). I let out this massive sigh. My mates around me were like wtf?

I believe Gentry had been underrated to many, and Kerr was lucky enough to place him as head coach. That was merely luck.

However, no one envisioned the bench will turn out this way. He must've seen something other couldn't when he drafted dragon and Lopez.
And I believe the key factor to his redeeming is how he realized it's better for the Suns to play the way they play. Allow the offense to flow and defense to come rather than forcefully turning it into a half court team.
That is different from no defense. It's more like offense still comes first, but you still have to play good defense.

But don't forget. The starters are humble and laid back enough to allow the bench to take some of their minutes off. You may not see that in other starting fives other than ours.

Fact is he is out of contract this summer. Would you re-sign him? I saY DEFINATELY! He has been through the hard road and has done te ground work, now let's give him a chance to take the next step. Bryan colangelo struggled at first, it's a role u grow into and kerr has shown enough to warrant a new contract

By his OWN assessment, Kerr has admitted to making mistakes so I don't think we were being harsh on him.

I honestly believe it takes a big man to admit he's wrong espec when the media is always in your face and fans expectations are so high. Luckily we could click the "undo" button within a season. Sometimes it takes teams 5 years to undo mistakes.

I agree with SDU. Not too many GM's come in straight away and do everything right. We've gone through the teething process and it looks like he's starting to get it right. We're in a difficult situation where the owner doesn't want to pay Amare the max so I'm not going to judge Kerr too harshly based on how he deals with this. The reality is he's been put between a rock and a hard place and if Amare doesn't stay I'm not going to blame Kerr.

That face-palm was SO EFFING EPIC when they showed it. It was like a play or two after someone made a huge play, I think it must've been a Dudley 3 or something and he was off his seat.

There were some moves he's made that were highly questionable but deep down I always knew he was the kind of GM that had the right vision for us. A lot of GM's come in and they just don't build a team the right way, like Colangelo in Toronto and the Wizards GM. When Kerr got here, I liked that he didn't force us to play half court basketball but instead wanted us to play the offense we were so successful at, but just play more defense. He seems to have a great relationship with Gentry and also our players. That kind of front office support builds a lot of confidence in our coaching staff and players. The development and production from our bench is often solely accredited to Gentry's coaching and I think Kerr should get a lot of credit for building a bench that Gentry could put on the floor in the first place.

What he does with Amare will be his biggest test. If he fails to resign Amare or get something meaningful back, his reputation will take a hit, no doubt. All I can say is that I have doubted him in the past and have had my share of frustration with him and I'm glad he's able to build the team we have today. I would like to see him continue to keep building our team into the future.

Kerr is the kind of guy you could root for. He just seems like a good guy. He looks like Steven Curtis Chapman, too.

After reading about Kerr's parents, I really hope the Suns reach the Finals.

Now that we actually keep our picks we have some hope for the future when Nash and Hill inevitably retire.

not only that, dantoni didnt want to play KT. he was payed 8 million and 16 million due to luxury tax. I am not really okay with kerr sometimes saying I didnt want to make this trade or This trade was done by the owner. u just dont do that- it seems ur throwing ur ppl under the bus. him and sarver are right though the suns needed to play defense.
