Re: Is Jason Richardson part of the future?
As long as we have Nash, JRich is offensively a much better fit with his 3pt shooting. Iggy is better defensively and a little better at creating his own shots, but is also more expensive. If Amare stays, we'd have need somewhere else with the salary difference after next season. Anyways, it seems a moot point as there is no way 76ers now give up Iggy.

I say keep him for a couple seasons but don't resign him to a long deal. He's a player who relies on his hops so when that starts to decline he won't be as effective.

Re: Is Jason Richardson part of the future?
Only way the Sixers trade us Iggy is if they lose Brand's contract this summer (also the No 2 pick). They could completely fail this season hoping for some big names in next year's free agency when they have Dally, Iggy (whoever they trade contracts with), and Brand (whoever they get for Brand) contracts coming off the books. They'd probably get another high pick in the 2011 draft, and I'd assume if the Suns made a trade for Iggy, they'd be giving up a first round draft pick. They'd essentially have the same plan as the New York Knicks.
IMO whoever takes Brand's contract is marked with death, lol. That contract is incredible. However, I could see the Nuggets taking it for Kenyon Martin...

I don't know that. I mean I'd keep him even Iggy were available to us, especially if JRich were to extend for 9 mil per year with us.
+1. Iggy + 3 pt shooting = jRich IMO
Ahhh no. Jrich is a better scorer, but everything else Iggy is better. Much better defender, much better slasher, much better play maker and I'd even argue he's a smarter player as well. Is JRich really worth $9m a year? He's like 30 now and I can't see anyone who would throw $9m a year at a guy who's a good scorer but can't do other things very well.
I think he's worth around $7m for 4 years.

I think that if you look at it as getting Turner and Brand for that price, it's not so bad. By the time Turner's rookie deal is up, Brand is expired and off your plate. The problem is that you have to give up salary to match and that would mean S&T for Amar'e ... which I would hate. JRich and Barbs?
Hard to make it work, for us. But it will for someone
edit: tried it in trade machine - you'd have to do Brand and Iggy for Jich and Stat, or Nash - $27 mil in salary
awful
2nd edit: I've lost my mind - I'm doing two things at once
the 2 pick and Brand is $17-$18 mil. I had Iggy and Brand in the same deal for some reason, which isn't happening or suggested. Excuse me. I need to quit drinking before breakfast.

I'd be all for signing j rich for 7-8 million for 3 or 4 yrs. I bet he would take that.

6-6 SG who plays pretty good defense, has an outside shot, and likes to post up smaller guards, and had to play PF for stints in college. Sound like anyone we know? I bet we can trade one or both our 2nd rounders plus cash for a late 1st rounder. It's been done in almost every draft (sometimes just for the cash). Let him develop for a couple years, but still keep J-Rich around to teach him to be J-Rich. The thing about Richardson is that he's rarely driving, he normally shoots off curls, post ups, and spot up opportunity's. It's gonna wear his legs down alot slower. I don't think he'll REALLY show his age for another 4, maybe 5 years

3yr at 7million team option for JRich.
I think some of you guys think that everyone has to be under twelve in order to rebuild. You have to have some veterans on the team. A good mix is better than a bunch of young guys. I don't like the "we are the youngest team in the league" excuse and getting our azz kicked.
We just need to keep Amare. Guy had 21 and 8 in 30 mins, with 5 missed FT's. He could have easily had 32 and 10 if he'd played much as Kobe. He was the go to guy late.

He's currently listed as a late first rounder in the DX mock. No way we'd be able to get him when we're in the mid 2nd round range.

Re: Is Jason Richardson part of the future?
I think a good SG is what this team has been missing since we lost JJ, I'd keep him for sure.
Amare is #1 priority this year
Next year we have JRich locked up, no need to trade unless they go into super rebuild mode, which shouldn't happen unless Amare leaves and we don't get anyone near his level to replace him.
I'd like to keep Amare and JRich with this young team for at least another couple of years though. They're both great players.
