Recent Ford Mock Draft
This guy is garbage:
I know it's 'insider' and all, but just to go into the top 10 he has:
1. Wall
2. Favors
3. Turner
4. Johnson
5. Aminu?!?!
6. Cousins
7. Davis
8. Hayward
9. Monroe
10. Bradley
Why on God's green earth would we take Aminu if Cousins dropped to 5?!?! Another thing that I don't like is Bradley going at 10. I would like to think that if we could get a pick in the mid-late teens we could get Bradley...
Thoughts on why he would do this?

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
NBAdraft.net has us taking Greg Monroe @ #5 and Cousins dropping to 7

I hope to god we don't let Cousins fall past us, seriously. XD
Although, like last year... we pass on the fan-favorite/expected BPA guy, and we get the real draft stud. Twice in a row?

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
With Geoff Petrie as GM it really wouldn't surprise me to be honest. Especially if Aminu comes in for a workout, he's going to KILL in that environment and we know how partial to the workout portion of the draft Petrie is.

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
Well, Cousins to be fair, could easily turn out to being a complete disaster. Yeah, he has all this potential to be great, but if he doesn't work out, or his attitude/work ethic doesn't change, then he could easily be one of the most wasted potentials of all time.
If you think Cousins can adjust and become serious about basketball, then absolutely, you draft him high.
However, if you think Cousins will be a problem with attitude and work ethic, then you don't waste a top 5 pick on him.

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
My feeling on that is that Aminu could also end up being a disaster. Maybe he won't have a bunch of off-court issues or run ins with coaches, etc. But he could just as easily end up being a super athletic tweener forward who never ends up producing.
Given the uncertainty involved with drafting players, I'd rather take a flyer on Cousins. I think the fanbase would too. He may be a bust, but if he's not he is too good of a player to pass up.

I think that taking Cousins and watching him be a bust is FAR easier to forgive than taking a flyer on Aminu, a positon/player we don't need, and watching him bust.

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
I think the red flags on Cousins are just too large to consider him.
The red flags connected to Tyreke Evans before we drafted him were connected to things he had, as much as he could, put behind him, and to the best of my memory weren't connected to any on-court behavior.
Cousins red-flags are related to on-court work ethic, which I think makes him a huge mistake to draft as high as we currently are.
If we trade down, and Cousins is somehow still available (unlikely), I'd be more comfortable bringing him on, but I don't see drafting Cousins at #5 as a smart move.

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
I've been as anti-Cousins as anybody, but I would have a hard time not taking him at 5--a really hard time. I mean if the FO decides not to, I'll respect the decision and assume they were right to avoid him. But still, it's tough to pass up on that kind of talent.

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
The only reason they would take Cousins would be his size and post moves. But they just traded for Landry for his post moves. Even though Landry is smaller I think he is just a similar type player without the red flags.
They won't take Aminu they are really deep in SFs. They won't take Monroe he is the same size as Thompson and not a shot blocker.
They will either take Cousins or a high % jump shooter to open the floor.

That's totally the typical realm of thinking and it usually is for a reason. Talent and potential wise Cousins is right behind Wall.

This should not surprise anyone. In two weeks you'll see Udoh at the five spot.

Pretty much sums it up. I'd be surprised if we passed him up, but would have to trust the decision makers. The picture will get a little more clear once we start working these guys out. Right now, its really way to early to predict who the Kings would take or even who will be available.

i just saw that Cousins vertical leap was 27.5 while
The vertical leap numbers for the PFs:
Ed Davis: 36"
Derrick Favors: 35.5"
Craig Brackins: 35"
Ekpe Udoh: 33.5"
Patrick Patterson: 33.5"
Gani Lawal: 31.5"
Greg Monroe: 29" compares to Hawes: 29" (same as Monroe)
No step (ranked in order of max verticals)
Davis: 31"
Favors: 31.5"
Brackins: 26"
Udoh: 31"
Patterson: 28.5"
Lawal: 27"
Monroe: 25" Hawes: 29" (better than Monroe)
other vertical leap #'s: john wall 39, Wesley Johnson 37, evan turner 34.5, aminu 33.5...
cousins is a big guy but if u watch his highlights he really doesnt get off the ground, i thought it was all im my head.. i still want cousins if he falls to 5 but only if johnson is gone. so yea i have changed my mind and would rather have Johnson

Re: Recent Ford Mock Draft
Those numbers are pretty odd though. As a poster pointed out on the draft section, some of the guys whove been in the combine before had vastly different numbers from one year to the next. Cousins isn't gonna impress anyone with his jumping, but he's realatively fluid, and his length makes up for it.
