You see, I´m not one of the most optimistic "Lebron to Ny" fans (cough, Knicksgod, cough), but this one has to make you feel good....

You can´t tell me that these guys all sit down together, look at the possibilities, and see that NY has two max slots, a promising supporting cast, a great city, and the possibility of becoming a franchise legend, AT LEAST two of them won´t look at each other, and say: "Hey, where do we sign".

It might not be Lebron who, for all we know, could prefer to go elswhere, but getting tow of these guys would be huge (specially if one of them isn´t Joe Johnson).

And then, in 2011, when FatCurry expires, you go either for the third max, or for a couple of good players, that would fill the needs noticed from 2010-2011.

I suggest you rersearch Tony Douglas and Walker's 3pt shooting . Check out Wilson Chandlers fg percentage as well. A 2nd Star BIG, shooting and huge growth potential (in terms of young talent) trumps a ball dominant PG with no 3pt range and defensive center with little offensive punch. It goes without saying that NY as city takes precedence over Chicago.

Im not even sure how to respond to this. I never said anything about Chicago in my OP. However I think you and many other NY fans arnt giving Chicago enough credit for what they already have. Deng, Hinrich, and Gibson are all NBA starters, and the team has a draft pick this year. Why do people from NY act like Rose and Noah are scrubs?

Anyways the point I was making was the the 08 Boston team had more 3pt shooting and they had a bunch of vets with playoff experince. Even a team that has LBJ, Bosh, Gallo, Douglas, and Chandler doesnt have anyone over the age of 25. If they were to win it all, im sure that would be by far the youngest team to ever do it.

And im sorry, but Gallo is not = with Ray Allen.

You can just look at it like this and say that it looks about equal, there is more to it. That Boston team is stacked with vets and they were a defence first team. Not to mention the there line up has 3-4 allstars in the starting lineup, and Posey and PJ brown coming off of the bench.

None of the players for NY have even reached their prime yet. Im not sayin that they wouldnt be one hell of a team, but I think 08 celtics is a bad comparison. Boston has 3, maybe 4 HOF on the roster.

IMO, d-fence and vetern players are very very importiant parts in winning a championship and that NY roster doesnt have much of either.

I don't think so. But getting upset two times in a row in the playoffs -- and with the Knicks now waiting with two Max slots -- that tells me Ferry doesn't expect LeBron to come back.

Not to mention that the Cavs got upset this year in large part because Lebron flat-out quit on his team should clue Ferry in to not hold his breath.

I haven't read this thread in a little while but how are the Bulls fans who said "I just don't see 2 max guys going to the Knicks, it doesnt make sense because one of them has to be the first to sign to make the other one come" defending that argument now after Wade came out and said what he said?? It was a stupid argument before Wade came out and its even more stupid now. I mean do you guys really think these FRIENDS would agree to sign somewhere together then once one signs the other backs out? The main reason why Lebron leaves the Cavs (if he even leaves at all), because they are an old team with no room for growth. They are way over the cap and really have no players other teams would want in regards to trades. Your three point shooting comes froma mid level exception guy (Korver or Ray Allen for instance). I seem to remember a rookie coach did quite well for the Bulls back in the early 90's (Phil Jackson). There maybe another one out there, especially with the cast of players the Bulls have.

The Knicks have no one. To even think of signing two max free agents, they have to renounce their best player (Lee). You have table scraps after that. Heck, the Nets have a better core than the Knicks. You think Toronto wants to lose Bosh for nothing? I think a package of Deng, Gibson and this years #1 pick would work just fine for Toronto.

Good post, but if LeBron comes, then 100% chance Walsh trades Eddy Curry's contract before it expires. Here's why:

1) We would need players who can actually play.
2) With two max players getting raises in 2011 and Chandler needing to be re-signed, Curry's expiring $11.2M will only clear maybe an additional $3-5M off the 2011/2012 cap. Since this is the same amount as the MLE, it's worth it for Walsh to trade the contract now and be OVER the cap in 2011.

Obvious it has a lot of value around February deadline (there will be a team like Washington this season that wants to unload contracts to get under the cap) but do you think fat Curry could take a buyout and save the Knicks maybe $3 or $4 mil and tell him hey we will pay you XXX amount, you get a chance to sign with another team and prove yourself there, or do you keep Curry all together and pray he gets in shape and cares (longest shot)

at this point no

A curry buyout, especially considering his financial troubles and lack of playing over 2 yrs, would probably only save the team 1mil or so. We'd have no chance to convince him of taking less than the vet min difference on his contract

if we were a mil or so away from 2 max deals then we would do it but we are not, we are clear

So Curry becomes much more valuable as an expiring than a buyout

if we hit the jackpot and land LBJ and Bosh we'd want to move Curry with possible added incentive like Chandler for either a center, SG or PG who really fits well

if we land Johnson and keep lee then we have Curry's expiring 11mil plus the remaining 6 mil or so in cap space to make a very enticing deal to a team like LAC - Kamen and Gordon? - NJ - Harris and CDR? - NO - Okafur and Collison? - etc depending on how these teams profit from the draft
