Re: Expectations for Wall
I would say ROY, but after watching how the offense struggled until late in the season, I have no-clue what Flip will be able to achieve with a young team. It could go either way.

It is interesting there have been 6 PGs(Rose, Paul, Iverson, Francis, Kidd and Damon Stoudamire)who have been rookie of the year since 1990. Except for Chris Paul they all were the first PG taken in the draft. Paul was taken right after Deron Williams(who despite not being ROY has turned out ok

Re: Expectations for Wall
The biggest stat I'm worried about is the one I want him to keep down- turnovers. His points will come in the flow of the offense, he might have 6 one night and 26 the next but I think like Jason Kidd he will be one of those players that can have a large effect on a game with minimal scoring. And with Gil beside him we may not need 15-19 from Wall a game.
ROY for Wall I could care less, just help us get back into the playoffs...

Re: Expectations for Wall
I think 12 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, 1.5 steals per game sounds about right. I don't think he'll win rookie of the year if only because he won't be the centerpiece of the team when it comes to scoring, etc.
How awesome will it be though, that he will represent us in the Rookie/Sophomore game at the All-Star weekend? When was the last time a Wizard played in one of those?

This sounds reasonable to me. I think 5 or 6 assists with 2.5 to 3 Turnovers is a lot better than 7 or 8 assists and almost 4 turnovers.
Those rookie stats put him in pretty good company:

Yeah, I agree with you guys. The points may be a bit higher than that, but we well might not be looking at an outrageous stat-line.
I have no problem with that. While I think Wall COULD put up big numbers with middling efficiency if that was a priority, we need development and structure more than volume driven production.

Re: Expectations for Wall
You know Wall will have 4 assists per game JUST passing it to Arenas.....Arenas is going to bring out the Hibachi for all the haters.

i'm more concerned about how he plays defense, manages fast breaks, and shoots FTs. i'm expecting decent defense, whatever the opposite larry hughes would do, and hopefully an 80% clip on 5fta.
+1

World peace, cure for cancer, cold fusion, and a championship. I think Wall can achieve at least 2 of them, everything else would be a disappointment.

The only players that came anywhere close to that(as rookies or any season for that matter are Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson.

And yet, if you combined them, you get Oscar Johnson, who sounds like a porn star. I don't even want to know what triple-double means then.
I'll go w/ 17/4/6

Re: Expectations for Wall
How about
10pts
20 ass(ists)
10 stl
10 reb
Arenas will have 45pts and 2 assists
Our back court can put up 55pts and 22 assists

Change the pts to 40 and the stl to blocks and you have Wilt Chamberlain.

And McGee will get a quadruple-double: 10 blocks, 10 boards, 10 alley-oops, and (incredibly, unprecedented) 10 fouls.
