For as gifted as A'mare is his lack of rebounding is really disturbing. Rebounding takes effort and desire, he really seems to lack in those categories when they don't go hand in hand with scoring.

it's hard to tell who the best team is right now. I still say Lakers, but who knows.......

okay my bad I shoulda either bolded the 4 rebound part or cut the post to the 4 rebound part. It was Jrich that didn't box out. But I stand by my assessment of his overall effort. Which is why I mentioned it earlier in the thread. It is just disturbing to me that a guy with his ability seemingly has no desire to hit the boards hard. No reason A'mare shouldn't average 10-12 boards a game this series.

I disagree that Amare's going to opt out either way. I could definitely see him re-upping with Phoenix. If you just mean that he'd sign a new contract with them, fine. But my point is that if Phoenix wins this series I would bet on the Suns paying Amare to return, and him saying yes.

Amar'e was an OK rebounder during the season, averaging just a shade under 9 boards. That's definitely acceptable. He's averaging under 7 boards in the playoffs. I'm surprised about that. Channing Frye should never out rebound him in such an important game.

It could happen, but I don't think the chances get greater if he goes to the Finals. The Magic went to the Finals with Hedo last year, he's not on the team anymore. Money is money and it doesn't seem like both sides are going to commit 5-6 years when they're already in a rocky relationship.

Hedo left the Magic b/c they wouldn't overpay for him while Toronto and Portland would. Amare can only get so much, and if the Suns are willing to give it to him (while also being able to make the finals) I say he stays. And if the Suns are willing to pay him, then he's not comparable to Hedo.

And there we go. The Suns have been negotiating with him for 2 seasons, nothing's happened. They've been trying to trade him for 2 seasons. Who knows, maybe he ends up re-signing or opts in, but its pretty clear they're not on good terms. Finals or not, I don't see a whole lot changing.

It's just this. If the Suns make the Finals they've got a pretty good shot at winning it all. Amare couldn't be guaranteed of a whole lot better anyplace else. The Heat? Wade + Amare + JO resigned would be pretty good, but far from a sure thing. NY would be much less certain. And if the Suns let Amare walk, where will they be? All kinds of noplace. All I'm saying is, if the Suns think they've got a legit shot at a title with Amare-- which they surely must think if they make the finals-- they have to think very hard about offering him the max. And Amare has to think very hard about taking it over other flashy offers.

But anyway, we'll see soon enough. And since it now looks as if the Lakers will win the series, the part about the Suns making the finals might just be moot.
