Phil Jackson & Lebron

Post#1 » by ClipperEric » Thu May 27, 2010 4:35 pm

All of a sudden there's lots of speculation about Phil Jackson. It may or may not be true, but there's a few teams that have shown interest in him. The Clippers are without a coach, so why not make an attempt at Phil?

Laker haters may be anti, and some think we'd have no chance. But here's why it could work:

Phil wants to be known as the greatest coach in history. He's got the championships, but he's also had the luxury of some of the game's greatest players. The Clips are pretty much known as the worst team in professional sports, not just basketball. If Phil could win with the Clippers, then he'd most certainly earn the title of "Best Coach Ever".

Lebron also wants to be known as the best player ever. He's got a long way to go and a lot of championships to win, but how much more would it mean to win with them with the Clippers? Yes, the Nets suck too, but they don't have anywhere near the storied history of this franchise. Winning here would mean so much more than winning anywhere else.

Then there are the standard arguments like, "having a great young nucleus", which we do, but so do the Bulls and some other teams. The attractive piece of this concept is our historical suckiness.

Of course, Phil and Lebron would have to come together. I couldn't see either one doing it without the other. Phil gets a chance to coach the game's next greatest player, and Lebron gets the game's greatest coach.

Phil won't coach Clippers, because Sterling would never give him the money he asks

The next greatest player in the NBA is Kevin Durant. Watch for Lebron in 20 years to take Charles Barkley's seat on T.V.. Lebron, like Charles can talk about how he came so close buy, never won the Championship.

Durant is a superstar and I think he will be in that elite group when its all said and done. But so is Lebron, you can't compare him to Barkley. He will win some championships, and soon, it all depends on where he goes next.

I disagree about Lebron being the next Chuck. Remember it took Jordan 6 years before winning his 1st.

You can't compare MJ & Lebron; Mike would at least pass the ball in the 4th quarter. How can anyone say that Lebron will get championships for sure(Ask Dan Marino.)
Lebron is a great player yet, I would rather be in Durant's position. W/ the way that Stern & the NBA is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fair weathered ( hate to say it--- KOBE does NOT get enough Love!, Stern thinks Kobe isn't as valuable as Lebron.)
I am not knocking Lebron, all I am saying is there are some young stars on teams with really good players.

I'd hope that Sterling would be willing to pay whatever it takes to make this team a winning ball club. He's talked a big game and has committed to it in different occasions. It's time to go all in. This team truly needs a big time talent to come in and legit coach that is going to bring the most out of his players. Whoever is available, I hope that he's willing to pay them.
