Trade to trim 4-5 millon and SIGN 2 MAX guys

Post#1 » by JKiddy » Fri May 28, 2010 10:32 pm

Any ideas of trades we can make to get under the cap enough to sign 2 MAX Free Agents this summer? It looks like Wade, Lebron, Bosh, Joe Johnson, and crew will be meeting before the July 1st date to decide their fate. If we get under we can become even more of a major player for Lebron/Wade and Bosh/Amare/etc...

Let's get it!

Hope like hell Kris Humphries opts out, trade Yi for cap space, maybe have to attach a 1st rounder to him to get it done.

I'd push hard to move Yi/Hump or Yi/Keyon. I think we got a better shot with a Yi/Keyon move actually. With a team there, they can take a chance on Yi without giving up anything and could either use Keyon who is a solid vet back up PG or have a small buyout to free up some room immediately. That would also leave the possibility of resigning him in the offseason. That would free up almost $8million from out cap. How much do we need for 2 max players? 34 million? that would give us right around there I think. We can basically beg Hump to opt out lol. Or do the Yi/Hump deal, buy out Dooling and clear close to $10 million.

I think moving Devin is the last minute desperation move.

Have we picked up CDR's option?

Just forget about 2 max and worry about 1 max. So much is reminding me of Knick fans lately.

It's probably easier to get two max players then one, there's a good chance these guys are going to want to pair up and that will be the main incentive in getting any of them.

Of course you don't, especially after it's been leaked that a few of them are going to meet up sometime this month and discuss their futures, together as a group.

Again. "its been leaked" sounds like non sense to me. We'll see how it turns out.

I just don't get it, why does it sound like nonsense?
Wouldn't Wade want to play with Bosh and maybe Joe Johnson?
Wouldn't Lebron want to play with Amar'e?
I mean the way you're making it out to be is Lebron would rather play with Devin Harris and a bunch of rookies, or Wilson Chandler and Gallo, with on one else.

It's not just a link, it's from D Wade.

Read the stories in these links...

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/k ... wo9OMWXvXK

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/s ... EfpwI7cXbL

I guess this is all just, "nonsense", though.

Whats not to get, i dont believe it. Its just reporters hyping up an old story because its exciting news. Ever sine the Olympics we've been hearing how all these great players are going to come and play together. Has anything remotely close ever happened before? Why dont the 5 best players in the league just come together, take pay cuts for 1 year and play to win a championship. All-star teams dont exists, its just a fantasy.

Maybe 2 of the guys will end up pairing up next season, but no more. I dont see this big meeting like top FA where they decide ok, you 2 go to NY, the 3 of you Chicago and so on. Thats BS, Thats fantasy, until i see it happen i'm not gonna believe it no matter what writers and leaking.

P.S.
How many teams can even afford to sign 2 max players without a sign and trade? Heat with Wade + 1 and NY? Thats it isn't it? Even more reason to believe this is a waste of time.

Lol, just keep ignoring the fact that Wade has definitively said they are going to meet up before the free agency period and discuss things. I know though, it's just reporters, even though, you know, it isn't, it's actually D Wade, straight from the horse's mouth...

They know they have to pair up if they want to compete with LA and Boston.

The NJN are in a great position. Just give Yi away & you've got space for the 2 max FAs. Seriously, who cares what you get for Yi. He's been a bust & wasn't your draft pick to begin with. In terms of the 2 max FAs, these young stars signed 3 year deals so they'd have the flexibility to go where they wanted & they all want to win. If you can convince LBJ to come to the Nets, either Wade or Bosh will follow. If you can't get LBJ, Bosh & Joe Johnson or Bosh & Wade will be possibilities. Miami, NYK, & Toronto are in tough spots. There is not enough talent on those teams to keep their own players much less to entice the FAs that those teams are championship contenders. IMO the Nets are in a different space & will immediately become championship contenders. Your management should do anything/everything to unload a little salary. It shouldn't be that hard to do.

This is whats going to happen.Lebron/Bosh go to NY,Wade/Amar'e in Miami and JoeJohn signs with the Bulls. The Nets are going to get lucky and draft Evan Turner, hire JVG,then sign D.Lee and M.Miller.Wait and hope for Melo in 2011.

2010/11
Brook/Dallas pick
D.Lee/Yi/Humphries
Turner/Twill/CDR
Lee/M.Miller/Twill
Harris/Twill/Dooling
BPA with the 2nd rnder
^^^^^Thats not a contender but its a playoff team with good depth without using up all our capspace.

2011/12 starting line up
Brook
D.Lee
Melo
Turner
Harris

The Nets upset Lebron James and the Knicks in the 2nd round of the playoffs lol

^I don't think that a couple of draft picks would make us a play-off team just yet, although it could make us to a 30-win team.

But I say if we can trim cap space to get 2 max guys without giving a high draft pick, you do it.

I read a report that said they could be meeting to make sure they dont all plan to sign with the same team so who knows. If there even is a meeting.

There will be a meeting. To believe other wise is foolish.
Will they pair up and sign together?
Your guess is as good as mine.
But to think they wont meet up a discuss options is ig.
These guys have been pondering for years, talking to each other for nearly as long and are serious about trying to form a few super teams that will be amongst the leagues elite.
