People over-rated the Cowboys based on Romo IMO....
The guy does not have the pedigree of Favre, Manning or Brady, but I think people this season just put him in that category because he was the QB of the "Cowboys" and everyone assumed that means he's a HOF'er like Staubach or Aikman.
I like Romo and he's certainly a good QB.....but he is the NFL equivalent of a guy coming out of the D-League, and who choked away their playoff game last season. He's a 27-year old QB from Eastern Illinois (nothing against EIU, but it isn't a major school) with 1.5 seasons of experience.
People didn't focus enough on his lack of experience.

I don't fully agree with that assessment. Romo did not lose this game. He made some ridiculous plays to stay alive, with that flip pass to Witten as an example. Very point-guardish.
The numbers speak for themselves (though it is true that he has benefited from a very good line and supporting cast). He just has a monkey that he'd like to get off his back. Every QB has had one (besides Brady).

Yep, I think we both pointed out around the same time in the game thread that Romo was clearly cracking. Somebody on the general board quoted this from supposedly from ESPN (although I find it odd they would call a player out for "pouting"):
As soon as New York started getting some pressure on Romo in the fourth, it was very easy to see he was rattled.
Romo was sacked on the next drive and wound up leaving the field pointing at teammates and pouting after an incompletion. New York then started on its 3-yard line and saw Jacobs get stuffed on a third-and-1.

Please.
Romo wasn't the reason the Cowboys lost today. Far from it. In fact I think he played a very good game. If his WRs hold onto a couple balls that went right through their hands Dallas wins this one walking away.
He just got done completing a legit MVP type season, one you could put up against any of Brett's. And for all his experience, Brett's had his share of crummy playoff games as well.

Romo had a good game if you look at the entire sample, but he did not play well at all in the final drive of the game, and that is where you get measured. When he had pressure (it was few and far between), he didn't make that many plays.
He's a good QB, but he's surrounded with a ridiculous amount of talent across the board as well. No way in hell he's better than Favre now or will be better than Favre.

The ultimate test of a great QB is can you lead your team down the field to win the big game.....despite Favre's failures on a number of occasions, he's also succeeded in a number of occasions.
The bottom line is that Dallas had NUMEROUS opportunities on that last drive for Romo to sail one into the hands of T.O. or another receiver and didn't.
The fact that on the series before he's melting down on the field spoke volumes.
If you want to say Tony Romo didn't lose the game, that's fine. But Tony Romo also didn't win the game for the Cowboys, which is what the great QB's do. And that's my point.

Romo played decent overall and the point about the drops is a valid one... Crayton looked like he was gone for a huge gain on that third down drop.
But Romo had plenty of chances there at the end and you could see he lost his cool and was rattled. He also held unto the ball far too long on a couple of plays and ended up getting sacked when he could easily gotten rid of the ball for no loss. Even Aikman called him out on that during the game.
Exciting game but one that was poorly played by both teams IMO. Too many mistakes, penaties and bad play calling (Cowboys going away from Barber after he dominated the first half, Giants punting on 4th and 1 when they had momentum and going conservative at the end).

Right now Tony Romo is no different than guys like Eric Kramer or Jeff Garcia who came out of nowhere to have similar outstanding statistical seasons, take a team to the playoffs and then get dumped in the first round. And dumped somewhat because those guys weren't top tier, HOF type QB's.
If the Cowboys were getting hammered and down by 2-3 touchdowns as a result of a sieve defense that is one thing......but that whole second half was Romo's to make something happen.
Favre his first ten-years had a great pedigree that he's resurrected here this season. Favre's first playoff game against Detroit he makes that amazing bomb throw to Sharpe for the victory. Romo today had an opportunity to be part of the conversation with Favre, Manning and Brady, but couldn't do it IMO.

Romo is MUCH better than Kramer, Garcia, George, or Warner. When have you ever seen those other guys make eye-popping plays by themselves? Those guys benefited from a good system. Romo makes something out of nothing consistently - that sets him apart from those guys.
And easy on the gloating, guys. Don't want to accrue bad karma of our own!

Seeing Dallas lose like that was pretty awesome and not just because the Pack get the title game at home but also for the simple fact Dallas choked after going 13-3 and getting their salads tossed by the national media all year.
I thought all season the Cowboys where a 10-6 wild card type team, they just had luck on their side all year (untill today).
They got lucky as hell in that game vs the Bills.
They got lucky as hell in the Lions game,Jason Hanson missed a 25/30 yard FG late that woulda put the Lions up 30-21 and sealed the game. The Cowboys win 28-27.You can probably count on one hand how many 25/30 FG's Jason Hanson has missed indoors in his 16 year carrer.
They catch the Packers the one week when they had key injuries.
The Cowboys also won some close ones and had to sweat vs some bad/medicore teams.
I have zero doubt the Packers are the better team over Dallas the thing that scared me about them was that luck factor.Like that saying goes ''sometimes its better to be lucky than good''.
Luckly the Cowboys luck ran out out yesterday.
I do think the Cowboys have a good playoff caliber team,I just don't think they are a true 13-3 team.
Mark my words Dallas wont be more than a 9-7/10-6 team next year, they **** up.
