Utah radio rumor
So at work yesterday multiple co-workers and guests talked about how excited they were about the newest Jazz rumor that has Boozer and the #9 going to the Nets for the #3 and Lopez...
This was apparently reported on some Utah radio station. Not sure what one, but I probably talked to six different groups of people about it. So, it is out there.
These people swore that there were ways to get it done. Now, am I missing something?
Salaries don't match. Can the Nets just absorb the higher contract?
Boozer is a free agent now, not a player for the Jazz. So the Jazz aren't even allowed to discuss trades involving him 'til after July 1st. Correct?
Why in the #*!! would the Nets ever make this trade? May have better luck in drawing a free agent with Booz than with Cousins or Favors... that seems like a stretch.
How does such a rumor even make it onto the air, and how can so many "sports fans" buy into it?
Does Holy Toledo have his own radio show?
These are the points most people brought up int regards to how the deal can be done. One guy even claimed that the Nets would just trade us the pick for our pick in good conscience, then we would send Booz later!
With everyone buying into this trade I'm sure I now look like an idiot for saying its impossible. If I am missing something, please fill me in. Because to me this trade just seems completely fictitious and insanely flawed... and yet so many people seem to believe it is plausible.

Are you coworkers 10 year olds?
Its impossible to trade boozer, He is A FREE AGENT. We could sign and trade him later on, and be trading whoever we picked at 9, for whoever they picked at 3 plus lopez, but there is no way in **** hell thats going to happen.
This is just stupid. Shouldn't even be talked about anymore.

Whaa???!!!
Definitely smacks as happy delusion to me. But, yeah, that would be sweet.
EDIT: stupid question- as Boozer and other impending free agents are technically under contract until July 1st, could they not be extended at any time before that date under terms of the current CBA?

Re: Utah radio rumor
What LJ said, we can't trade Booz until after the draft in July, and that would only be in a S&T...
Rumors rumors rumors...When's the last time we heard a trade rumor concerning the Jazz that actually happened?
The last two trades involving Korver and Brewer came out of absolutely nowhere...Jazz FO is notorious for keeping things tight lipped until it actually happens...I'm guessing any offseason moves this year will follow suit.

Re: Utah radio rumor
lmfao Sorry but Brook Lopez is nearly untouchable for the Nets. As much as I love Boozer this is probably the best rumor involving him that I've ever seen.

Well, most people don't know the first thing about what the CBA is like. It's why I haven't listened to Sports radio since I was a teenager. They have to appeal to a more casual clientele than what we RealGM geeks are. I hate that it gives all these false hopes and people get pissed the Jazz don't do any of these pipe dreams.

Sorry, but the CBA is the least of what was misunderstood by people who could have possibly believed this.

No way the Nets give away the second best Center in the east for Boozer.

Re: Utah radio rumor
I will literally S*** myself if we can land Brook freakin' Lopez and the 3rd overall pick for often injured Carlos Boozer and our #9 pick, hell I would even through in our Memphis pick for next years draft to make this happen, and hell if they wanted another one of our young guys besides Deron Williams I would through them in too, Brook Lopez is going to be one of the best centers or power forwards in this league for a very long time and we could pair him up with Deron, I like our chances of contending, because that would me we are going to draft either Favors or Cousins and I would be okay with that, scratch that I would be out of my mind hysterical.

I have a feeling you S*** yourself daily if you actually entertained all of those thoughts.

Actually I disagree completely. As much as I dislike the radio guys none of the current local shows would be this stupid. Locke would NEVER say anything like this, his show is exactly for the realgm type fan. The only idiots that could possibly say something this stupid is Monson or Kevin on 1280. But I don't think they did. I don't think this was even a radio rumor. This was either this poster thinking of this idea and saying his "coworkers" thought of it. Or else his dumb ass coworkers made it up. Either way I doubt it came from local radio.
