Is it possible? Would you do it?

Post#1 » by Dan's with the Wolves » Sun May 30, 2010 3:22 pm

Last year he got to of the top six. Could he get 3 of the top six this year?

Jefferson + X to Philidelphia For Brand and Turner

Love + Y to Sacramento for Wes Johnson

X+Y = Pekovic, Ellington, Brewer, Sessions, 16, and 23

Draft Cousins
Sign Darko

Cousins/Darko
Darko/Brand/Hollins
Johnson
Turner
Flynn/Rubio

Anything possible...I would say jumping to Philly or Sacs spots are possible, but Brewer is the only piece of those I wouldn't want to move...he fits what we;re trying to do. I'm all for rebuilding our frontcourt while solidifying our backcourt, but I'd much rather cut loose Love and take what he can give up. If it happens to be Wes Johnson, and we draft either Favors or Cousins while keeping AJ....I'm doing it.

Im not completely sold on Johnson imo.

I still don't think taking back Brand is worth it.

But maybe that could turnout well, idk.

I'm not completely sold on taking back Brand, either. I'm also not sure about adding three rookies but I'd probably do it with hesitation.

If you can get Turner without giving up the #4, you welcome Elton Brand with open arms

There are definite limits to that. I don't agree with taking back Brand for the #2 if we're including any of the serious assets(#4, and also Jefferson, Love, Rubio, Flynn, and I think I'd include #16 and Pekovic too) in the trade. There's point where you're just paying way, way too much.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Yep, I'm with this. I somehow don't think Philly bites unless we give up the 4, but Kahn is almost certainly not giving up the 4 AND taking Brand. Getting Turner depends if they want to be reasonable or not.

So now we're trading both Jefferson and Love to open up playing time for Darko @ the 4? The love for Darko on this board is borderline insane.

Seriously. PF is the only position on our whole team where we have legit good players, but we're gonna trade those guys away so league wide joke Darko, who is a poor scorer and rebounder, can take their minutes. Amazing.

No, I think we're trading both Jefferson and Love to massively upgrade our wings.

Yep, players good enough to win 15 whole games. :D

I'm all for trading 1 of them, but not both. By doing this you are just shifting the problem around, and maybe not even that, because, you know, sometimes your draft picks don't pan out (see Foye, McCants, Brewer, Flynn, etc).

to be fair, a lineup of:

rookie/poo
decent/rookie
poo/poo
legit/legit
legit/poo

sounds like a 15 win team to me.

Sessions was poo?

I've soured on Turner lately. His poor combine results don't fill me with hope that he'll reach the same level as Brandon Roy and the ridiculous value the 6ers fans have heaped on it don't make me inclined to ask for him anyway. I'd rather have Cousins and whatever we'd trade then Brand and Turner.

Personally I wouldn't trade Love for anyone but turner or wall. He doesn't have the ceiling of the rest of the heads in the top five, but he strikes me as the type of dude to be the third or fourth option on the best team in the league. I absolutely love everything about his game, and I see him throwing up a 16-13 next year with good percentages across the board.

I would only consider trading for one more top 6 pick because we're putting all of our eggs in one basket.

Sessions wasn't horrible, but it's clear he'd be much better somewhere else. Plus, any PG that shoots FT like that is poo in my book. (and please don't call out Rondo right now, ya'll know what I mean)

I think we can pick up higher picks with a combination of moves and I'd be interested in doing that. However, I wouldn't move Love and Al at this point. I see the value of moving one in order to fill other holes and don't have a problem moving one of them if the right scenario is in place.

I don't have a problem with 3 rookies having prominent roles because this is a deep draft and we need all the talent we can get. We're still rebuilding and eventually we'll lose a 1st round pick, so I don't have a problem stockpiling.

Last year, we only had to move Mike Miller and Randy Foye in order to get a second pick in the top six. It resulted in two players with the same position; one had a so-so first year in the league, and the other will take at least two years from his original draft date to join the NBA.

In the scenario you propose, we give up our only two above-average starting-caliber players (plus plenty of extras) in order to TRIPLE DOWN on this crap-shoot. No thanks.

is Brand even that washed up? He had a really bad year on a pretty crappy Philly team that in addition to being crappy, they rolled over on their coach. I am in no way advocating his 14mill contract or whatever it is, but I just don't think he's too far from the 20-10-2 days as a Clipper as he appears right now and could be a decent contributor if he can shake the injuries.
